Overview

Telerik RadTabStrip control supplies the basis for building tabbed interfaces with rich formatting and behavior. Tabs can have any shape you can imagine, be rearranged with drag-and-drop editing, and automatically manage other controls on embedded content panels.

• Horizontal, Vertical, Angled Tab Orientation

  With RadTabStrip, tabs can be displayed in horizontal and vertical orientation, either at the top, bottom, left, or right of the content panel. In addition, the text within each tab can be angled to fit your particular case, regardless of the tab orientation. You can have it horizontal, vertical or at an arbitrary angle.

• Drag and Drop Support

  TabStrip for WinForms allows tab reordering via drag and drop. Once dragging begins, the tabstrip will hint where the drop will appear by showing visual pointers between the tabs.

• Fully Customizable Tabs with Nested Controls

  You can choose from predefined tab shapes matching those used in popular applications such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Microsoft Visual Studio. Or you can use the Shape Editor for an extra edge in customizing each tab's appearance by creating curved designs with Bézier curves. The shapes can be saved and reused. 
  You can also nest custom controls within the tabs, such as buttons and checkboxes. This allows you to extend the default tab functionality with custom actions.

• Scrolling and Overflow support

  If there are more tabs than can be displayed, you can use tab scrolling and overflow management. With tab scrolling, you can use arrow buttons for left and right navigation. Or you can navigate to the needed tab by using the overflow button which lists all available tabs. The buttons can be positioned anywhere around the Telerik WinForms TabStrip.

• Extensive VS.NET Design-time Support

  RadTabStrip provides rich design-time support functionality making customizations and configurations very easy. Some of the key capabilities are:

  • Drag and drop of items within parent control or between controls;
  • Managing shortcuts and images;
  • Applying themes in design time and easily switching between them - the Choose Theme command in the Smart tag automatically detects the present themes;
  • Visual Style Builder, Element Hierarchy Editor, and Shape Editor productivity tools for full control over the UI.

• Keyboard support

  Telerik WinForms TabStrip delivers convenience with integrated keyboard support. Once the tab gets into focus, you can use the arrow keys or the Tab/Shift+Tab keys to navigate through the tabs.

• Image support

  Images and text can be displayed on tabs as well. You can customize the image-text relation by setting the TextImageRelation property. Possible values are: Overlay, ImageAboveText, TextAboveImage, TextBeforeImage, and ImageBeforeText.

• Multiline text support

  RadTabStrip supports multiline text in its tabs—instead of truncating long text, it is displayed on several lines. This is achieved through a label which the Telerik WinForms TabStrip uses for its text field.

• Appearance

  The control is shipped with a rich set of themes that allow you to easily build slick interfaces with the look-and-feel of Windows Vista, Office 2007, Outlook, etc. The themes can be easily switched using a single property.

  In addition to the built-in themes, all RadControls for WinForms come with a feature we call Theme Color Blending, which allows for tweaking the color scheme of a theme, without the need to redo the theme from scratch. The updated color scheme is applied to all Telerik WinForms controls that you are using in your application for a fresh new look. Or you can build a new theme from scratch to fit your exact visual demands by using the Visual Style Builder productivity tool.

  Telerik TabStrip is also capable of displaying rich text formatting by using standard HTML tags, such as <i>, <b>, and <u>. This is supported on a framework level.
