Overview

RibbonBar
The most innovative user interfaces can be created in a flash with Telerik RadRibbonBar for Windows Forms. It is an easy-to-use implementation of the Microsoft Office 2007 “ribbon” UI, which will allow to codelessly organize all the functionality of your application into a single compact toolbar control. What is more, it can be coupled with RadRibbonForm for extended ease of use and easy implementation.

Features

  • MS Office 2007 interface at your fingertips

    The Telerik WinForms RibbonBar control enables you to build user interfaces similar to the “wave of the future” ribbonbar used in Microsoft Office 2007. This feature ensures your applications will look up to date with the Microsoft applications your users are familiar with.

  • Ribbon Form

    RadRibbonForm is a specialized form that is pre-configured with a RadRibbonBar so that you don't have to spend time setting up this first layer of the UI. It also comes with a set of minimize, maximize and close form buttons so that you do not have to add these yourself.

    RadRibbonForm comes with transparency support under Windows Vista and Windows 7, which can be turned on/off with a single property. It also offers full Theme support which can be used from the very start of your project. You can use any of the pre-defined themes, or build a new one from scratch to fit your exact scenario.

  • Fully Customizable Application Menu

    RadRibbonBar's Start Button provides convenient access to "application menu" that displays actions performed on the entire document, form, or application, such as Save and Print. It also provides a list of recent documents, access to form options, and the ability to exit the form or application.
    The Start Button is based on RadApplicationMenu, which is Telerik counterpart of the "application menu" introduced with Office 2007 as part of Microsoft’s Ribbon UI. Since it is a available as a stand-alone product, it comes with intuitive design-time support, many extendability features, and theme support. RadApplicationMenu is fully compliant with the 2007 Microsoft® Office Fluent™ User Interface Design Guidelines.

  • All nested controls are already included

    RadControls for WinForms supply all controls that you will need in a ribbon bar. This means reduced learning curve, because you will not need to learn new tools if you have already worked with the RadControls suite. Since all controls are based on the Telerik Presentation Framework, they come with extensive design-time support, tremendous customization options, and extensive theme support. These controls are:

  • Extensive VS.NET Design-time Support

    Unlike some ribbon implementations, Telerik WinForms RibbonBar was built with ease-of-design in mind. You can build an entire ribbon by manipulating the tabs, chunks, and controls directly on the VS design surface, without writing any code. Some of the other capabilities are:
    • Drag and drop of items within parent control or between controls;
    • Managing shortcuts and images;
    • Applying themes in design time and easily switching between them - the Choose Theme command in the Smart tag automatically detects the present themes;
    • Visual Style Builder, Element Hierarchy Editor, and Shape Editor productivity tools for full control over the UI.

  • Appearance

    The control is shipped with a rich set of themes that allow you to easily build slick interfaces with the look-and-feel of Windows Vista, Office 2007, Outlook, etc. The themes can be easily switched using a single property.

    In addition to the built-in themes, all RadControls for WinForms come with a feature we call Theme Color Blending, which allows for tweaking the color scheme of a theme, without the need to redo the theme from scratch. The updated color scheme is applied to all Telerik WinForms controls that you are using in your application for a fresh new look. Or you can build a new theme from scratch to fit your exact visual demands by using the Visual Style Builder productivity tool.

    Telerik RibbonBar is also capable of displaying rich text formatting by using standard HTML tags, such as <i>, <b>, and <u>. This is supported on a framework level.
