         Is there a way I can extract a value in a coded step from a data bound .csv in the QA Edition? Or do I need to perform this via an ODBC connection?

For example: The Test will run and state that for Iteration #1: CompanyName= Bob'sCompany . I would like to obtain the value "Bob'sCompany" from CompanyName.

I tried executing a test list using the command line with this command:


The line that shows after this command is:


Test1 is the first test in the test list. What happens after this line is IE Browser is launched, and then no further action happens -  IE just stays in the "about:blank" address - it does not do the first step of Test1 which is navigate to URL. Am I missing something here?

I hope you can help me with a following problem:

When I record a test and press a button(1) or enter the text into textbox(2) inside the silverlight application WebUI records the following
1. Click BtnNewItemButton1
2. Type 'SomeText' into TxtNameTextbox3

As you can see it records the names of the elements(controlls) that were randomly given to controls during build. So later, if for any reason new element of the same type is added to the application window(tab) the test fails or executes wrong, cause what used to be BtnNewItemButton1 is now BtnNewItemButton3 and therefore can't be found/detected.

I am wondering if there is a possibility to somehow make the names of the controls stable(we are using Telerik controls in development)
Or maybe there is a possibility to tie the test to some other anchors on the application page?

i cannot record anything for Silverlght app.

I installed WebUI_TestStudio_QA_2010_3_1421_Trial.msi and try to record silverliht app. The record URL is http://www.silverlight.net/content/samples/sl3/toolkitcontrolsamples/run/default.html. but the system always popup the msg:Unable to connect to silverlight application. silverlight recording will not function.
My System is Win7 and .xap is added.
Would you help me?

i have a test list that throws 7 compilation errors on execution
all have the same error code. CS0102

i have found 2 other posts that sugests that i need to delete the pages.cs and pages.g.cs file

this solution did not resolve the problem since WebUI recreates the pages.g.cs file everytime i restart the program.

is there any workarround to this issue ?

          I'm trying to follow the steps outlined in the video here- http://tv.telerik.com/watch/automated-testing-tools/webui-test-studio-executing-webui-tests-with-mstest using my own test. I am using the WebUI QA Edition in conjunction with Visual Studio 2008 and when I attempt to run a project with an .aii extension with the following command "mstest /testcontainer:".\file name.aii"" (where "file name" is the name of the test I wish to execute) I receive the error: "File extension specified '.aii' is not a valid test extension."  Do I need to perform any extra steps not listed in that video to register the .aii file extension with the MSTest framework?

How can I insert a parameter into URL ?
here is a quick description what I want to do:
the request contains ReportID=1000 parameter in URL. This report can be deleted. I would like to do not specify a specific ReportID. Instead of this I would like to click on the first searched  report on the page. How can I insert a parameter into URL ?

I have only one line in my test script and it says [New_Test_CodedStep] : Navigate to : "http://mail.yahoo.com/". But Web UI tool is not playing back my script in any browser. I configured my browser as it was said in http://bit.ly//cofigure-browser.
