Hello,
I'm using the trial version here. My system is XP and I am using IE8. When I start recording steps, Telerik only records the first step, after that, nothing is added. Whether I'm trying to do a simple test run by going to google and clicking on a couple of links or my compnay's application, Telerik won't add more steps.

Any feedback is appreciated

Thank you

Hello Marvin,

Thanks for the post and I'm sorry you ran into this problem. Was any previous version of WebUI installed on this machine? If so, please check your Add/Remove Programs for the following entries:

- Automation Design Canvas 2.0
- WebAii 2.0 and/or WebAii Free Framework
- any or all WebUI Test Studio versions still installed

Telerik WebUI Test Studio 2010.1 should be the only entry in Add/Remove Programs. If any of the above entries still exist, please uninstall them along with the Telerik WebUI Test Studio 2010.1 entry, then reinstall the latest Dev Edition here.

If the above does not apply or fix the problem, please try disabling the other IE Add Ons except for:

Name          WebUI TestStudio Recorder
Publisher     Control name is not available
Status        Enabled
Version       4.0.31106.0

Name          WebAii Test Execution Extension
Publisher     Control name is not available
Status        Enabled
Version       4.0.31106.0

'Discuss' Add On may need to remain enabled also. Also, please let us know if you are using any International version of Windows or IE besides the English version.

Kind regards,
Nelson Sin
the Telerik team

Hi Nelson,
Thank you for your prompt response. I forgot to mention that I'm using the QA edition and not the developer one, I truly apologize for the lack of information on my part. This was the first time I installed this application on my machine. I actually Installed it once and ran into this issue so I thought it was a bad install. So uninstalled it and installed again but this behavior persits

Hello again Marvin,

Thanks for the extra information.

Even though you may have uninstalled the previous WebUI version, there still maybe the components I mentioned in my previous post that might be causing this. The old components were the cause for similar reports by other users, please check out your Add/Remove programs just to be sure.

If the above suggestion checks out, please let us know if Windows or especially IE is an international version. And there maybe other IE Add-Ons that could be interfering with WebUI as well, so if you can please try disabling them except for the ones I mentioned in my previous post.

And did you install WebUI with a user account that is part of the admin group for the machine?

Kind regards,
Nelson

Hi again Marvin,

Just wanted to check back to see if you were able to get recording working for WebUI. I also wanted to mention there is a known conflict with JustCode that may also be causing this problem.

Greetings,
Nelson

Hi Nelson,
Thank you for your reply.
  1. I'm not using any International version of Windows or IE
  2. The only entry in Add/Remove Programs is Telerik WebUI Test Studio 2010.1
  3. I disabled all my add-ons and did another test run and this time it's working.

Thank you for our help

Marvin

Hi again Marvin,

I'm glad you got this working. If you don't mind, please reply if you were able to determine which IE 8 Add On was interfering with WebUI as it would help us know of possible conflicts.

Kind regards,
