Test studio step: Navigate to url

Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to navigate to a url which is stored in an excel document? We want to be able to run the tests in different environments. So just updating it in the excel document would be easy, as there is no test settings file as such. Will this approach work? Also, is there any other way to do this, as we run the tests through MTM?

Hello Niharka,

Do you execute *.tstest files via MTM?

You can simply data bind the navigation step to an Excel file.

Hi Boyan,

I did try the above approach. But when I update the excel doc with a different url and execute the test, the test still uses the old value and not the new one.

Am I missing something here?

Hi Niharika,

Keep in mind that when Test Studio binds a test to an Excel file, it actually makes a copy of the file in the Project\Data folder.

You should edit the Excel file in that folder which is used as a data source.
