Hi

Recently we bought the RadTileViewItem from you and added it to some parts of our software.
The problem is that for some reason WebUI does not recognize this control and therefore does not allow test recording.

Is there any workaround for this?

Thanks in advance
Helen

Hi Olena,

We made a major re-factoring of the RadTileView control and simultaneously upgraded the "translators" for it in the WebUI. During this process, we do our best to preserve the backward compatibility for the previous versions of the RadTileView control. In short - the WebUI studio should be able to work properly, i.e. discover/record/execute tests with the older releases of the control.
You probably experience an issue caused by this re-factoring.
I can suggest you to use our latest official controls suite (2011 Q1) if possible.
If you cannot upgrade the controls used, please let me know the actual version of the controls you are using.
I will then check the latest WebUI TestStudio with the specified version and will try to fix it for this specific version.

Kind regards,

Hi Vladislav

The version currently installed is RadControls_for_Silverlight4_2010_3_1314_Dev.msi.
If you could help us resolve this issue without upgrading - I'd be really grateful!

Thanks a lot in advance

Hello Olena,

We discussed this problem with Vladislav. Upgrading controls and translator would be ideal and unfortunately the only solution for compatibility problems between Test Studio and RadControls. When controls are changed internally we simply update our control translators so that you just need to upgrade Test Studio too to get everything running just fine as it should.

I'm actually not sure which is the exact problem you get on recording. Does the TileView get highlighted as expected? Can you locate it in the DOM Explorer? Can you add verifications for it?

It will be great if you record the problem in a short video just to demonstrate the problem (Jing is really good for this and easy to use). Once we review the video we can say for sure if there is something else we could help you with.

Hi Konstantin, Vladislav

I recorded the behavior of WebUI and attached the link.
Unfortunately controls upgrade is not an option for us - we have a release soon and can't risk upgrading the controls now.
Please take a look at the video, maybe you'll be able to give some advice.

Thanks!

Hi Helen,

Thank your for sending the video!

So you don't get the element nub as expected, is that the problem? It looks like the TileView-s are highlighted as expected though, so the translators may actually work.

I noticed you are probably running the Test Studio 2010.3.1213 build, is that correct? May I ask you to try the latest build (labeled 2010.3.1502) instead? This looks like an issue with the recording but it's hard to say what could be the problem for the missing blue nub in this case.

Also Is there a way we can access your application? Perhaps you can send us credentials for testing purposes to connect and play with a live demo of the application under test? You can submit a formal support ticket just to keep the credentials private.

Best wishes,
