Hello saidi,

Usually this error message means the account you are currently logged in as is not a member of the local administrators group for the machine. WebUI Test Studio requires administrator level access in order to work. Please make sure your account is added to the local administrators group on your machine.

Hi saidi,

After taking another look at the error message I noticed this part "because TCP port 8000 is being used by another process". This sounds like you're trying to run two copies of QA edition at once, or else you have some other application running on your machine and it's using the TCP port our recorder requires. Do you have IIS or any other web server running on this machine?

Hi

I have some problems with installation RAD Controls for ASP.NET AJAX Q2 2010. The image shows the screen where the installation remains and it never ends.

https://sites.google.com/site/hypatialichtgreek/pantallaInstalacionTelerik.png

What I've done? I uninstalled early versions and I cleaned register, but the problem persists.

Please, I need some help.

Hi Hypatia,

We have not met an issue like the one you describe. In cases like this, an installer log is most helpful.

To run the installer with logging enabled you can use the following steps:

  • Open a command prompt;
  • Navigate to the folder, where the RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX installer is located;
  • Run the following command:
    msiexec /i <msifilename> /limev Telerik.Web.UI.Install.log
where <msifilename> is the file name of the installer package
  • Perform an installation

If you would then send the resulting Telerik.Web.UI.Install.log file to clientservice@telerik.com, we could analyze it and possibly provide you with a solution.

Hypatia,

Thank you for sending us the requested log. I was able to identify the cause for the issue.

The installation hangs during the installation of the Domain-Specific Language Tools for Visual Studio 2005 Redistributable package.

In order to perform a successful installation of our new release, you could try one of two things:

In order to install without Visual Studio 2005 integration, you should:

  1. Start the RadControls installer
  2. When asked if you want a Complete or Custom setup, select Custom
  3. In the shown feature tree, disable the Visual Studio Extensions for Visual Studio 2005 feature
  4. Proceed with setup

Please, do not hesitate to contact us if you experience any further issues.

Hi Nicolas,

It seems that the Service's Log is full. There should be a result log viewer app. called "Telerik.WebUITestStudio.Scheduling.Log.exe" under the TestStudio installation folder.
Can you please run it export the log and send it back to us ?
Also the log application can clean the entries which should fix the problem.

Thank you for your time and effort.

Hello Nicolas,

From the screen shots you sent it seem that there might be 2 problems.
The first can be related to the Project's path -  it should be UNC file path with at least  "Read" permissions to the "Everyone" role. This is done so the Schedule service can copy the files locally before the test execution.

About the second problem. In order to run Scheduled test the "Execution server" application must be always turned on. If it is not you will get the "Attach to process failed error".

It might also help to "Restart" the "Telerik.WebUITestStudio.WindowsService". This can be done from "Services" application in "ControlPanel -> AdministrativeTool" seciton.

Kind regards,
Nikolai

Hello Nicolas,

Can you give us some more information about your tests ?
For example:
1. How many test are you running?
2. Does this happens often?
3. Do you get the error below in Quick Execution mode or during test list Execution?
4. Are you using the Q3 SP1 or the Q3 official release?
5. Some OS/Machine specs. Is it a Virtual Machine and if yes what kind?

I am asking the above questions because we have not seen such issue before.

Kind regards,
Nikolai

Hello,
Thank you for your reply
Of course, I can give you this informations by answering your questions:
1 - for now, I have a single test
2 - in fact, this test uses a binding on a database sql server 2005 that is repeated
800 times, so the error occurs when I run the 800 categories, but when I run part
per part (100 in Class 8 times), this gives me good results
3 - it runs the test until the end, and after it returns me this error log file
4 - well yes I use SP1 Q3
5 - yes I use a VM (virtual machine Hyper V of Microsoft ) with xp pro but the error I receive when I use too
Windows 2003 Server

Hi,

a little bit more information regarding our current configuration.

Our QA edition is running on XP 32 bits with 4Gb RAM and 1 virtual processor. The physical Server hosting it, is W2k8 64bits and runs Hyper-V server with 32Gb ram and 4x Quad-core E7430 Processors.

Our WebUi Developper Edition is hosted on a W2k3 SP2 32bits with 4Gb RAM, 2x Intel Xeon Processor 3GHz and Visual studio 2008 Team Database Edition.

Our Execution Server is W2k3 64bits with 4Gb RAM and 1 virtual processor. The physical Server hosting it, is W2k8 64bits and runs Hyper-V server with 32Gb ram and 4x Quad-core E7430 Processors.

We can increase easily the RAM amount on the execution server but for the other one it means migrationg to something else. do we need to change something with our servers configuration ?

I am having the same issue and I noticed that "ProxyClientSvc.exe" is running on port 8000 (which is an automatic system internal process that runs on my desktop).  Is there a way to change the port that WebUI runs on?

Thanks in advance,

I am also getting an error when first running the QA version stating that Port 8000 is used by another application.  After tracking through netstat it appears that Java is using that port as well (screen shots attached).  Any ideas on how I can resolve this?

Hello John and Paul,

I confirmed with our Developers that we do not have a location to change the ports being used. Also, after reviewing the issue you provided, I have submitted BugID 103969 to cover this issue (regarding Proxy Apps using ports that our Tool then cannot use). Currently, the only work-around would be to remove the custom proxy-settings from the Custom tool (whether Java like Paul, or another application).

To John Specifically, I was not able to find a specific Process listed named ProxyClientSvc.exe. If this is the Windows OS process for the Proxy settings running on your machine, please still let me know the below two items so I can attempt to re-create your setup locally.

If you need assistance doing this (removing settings for your Proxy), please let us know the following:

  1. Version and SP for Windows
  2. Version and Name of Proxy software used (if using Windows settings, please say that)

Once we get this information we can assist more with modifying the settings. Please note that the best people to talk with on how to change settings within a tool will be the people that designed it, but we will assist where we can for this.

Just to let others know, I have discovered that the apparent culprit is the Java 6 Update 23.  After removing this I am able to record tests.

Hi Paul and John,

Glad to hear you are up and running again Paul!

John, were you able to disable your proxy settings? If not, please let me know

  1. Version and SP for Windows
  2. Version and Name of Proxy software used (if using Windows settings, please say that)
I'll continue looking for your reply with the above.

Hi Kaeagan,
I contacted our IT department and the application that is running on port 8000 (bluecoat client) is for security and cannot be disabled or run it on a different port.  Therefore, I think am at a standstill and will de-install your automation tool unless you can come up with a solution.

    Let me know...

Thanks in advance,

Hello saidi,

I am sorry to report that we have hard coded port 8000 into our software. There is no work around or alternative at this time. We have feature request 103969 to make this port configurable. I do not have an ETA when this will be implemented.

Hello Memo,

According to the install log you are installing our original R1 release, which is pretty old by now. I get this from this line extracted from your log:

Product: Telerik.Web.UI_2011_1_315(AMP).msi

That represents version 2011.1.315. We are up to 2011.1.624 now. Would you please download our latest version and try the install again. Let us know if you continue to have problems installing.

Hi Cody, Nicholas
I already solved my problem, I had to reinstall my VS2010 because it was dammaged, also the .NET Framework 4, after that the Telerik installer works fine in my PC.
Thanks,
Memo.
