I am sorry to hear about the issue you are experiencing. I have tested it on my side and you are right, this is not working. However this should be fixed in the official R1 release due in June.
Until now I can only offer you the following workaround. In the SMTP configuration please put a different email address where you should receive the emails when a test list fails, then you can configure an automatic forwarder forwarding the messages with specific subject/content to firstname.lastname@example.org .
