Hi All,

What is the minimum system requirement to run Web UI test Studio - QA edition?????

My company is evaluating the QA edition at this stage for silverlight application. We are running the trial version on a system which has following system configuration:
  • Intel Core duo CPU T7250 @ 2 GHz
  • 1 GB RAM

What we have noticed that Web UI test QA edition takes lots of time to firstly load the tool and then while executing the test on silverlight application, it takes lots of time to just start up (most of the time we get timeout exception) and same is with recording a test.

Your response will help us evaluating the WEB UI test - QA edition tool.

Hi,

Your advice on above query will help us decide whether we should go ahead with purchase of Web UI QA edition.

Thanks

hi.

as a USER of the product then i can say that WEB UI QA runs nicely on my workstation witch has the following setup.

Win 7 Ent. (64bit)
Intel E7500 Core2Duo
6gb memory
Primary disk is an intel SSD  where os and WEBUI QA is located on
Secondery disk is a 7200rpm disk where all project, Log and Result files are located

you can proberly get a nice performance with a regular disk as primary and 4gb of memory depending on os and what other programs you will be running at the same time.

our project is targeted sharepoint 2010 & 2007 pages and not silverlight.

i tend to have multiple instences of browsers open (read IE,Firefox and Safari), powershell for quick remoting tasks on the target test server, word + onenote and xmind

i hope this can help narowing down your system req.

you could always use some kind of test tool to look at where your system is lacking my guess is proberly disk IO or memory during the start up of WEBUI QA

Kind Regards
Ben
just a happy user ;)

Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for writing.

While the minimum requirements for Test Studio calls for a 400Mhz Processor with 96 MB RAM and IE7 - Silverlight itself requires a bit more.

On the Silverlight homepage, the minimum requirements call for an x86 or x64 1.6Ghz or higher with 512MB RAM - and keep in mind this is the bare minimum.

I would say the 1.6Ghz processor or above, but suggest 2GB of RAM for a good Silverlight Automation expirience.

I hope this helps - please let me know if you have any questions!
