Hi,

My web app is fully with Silverlight components. While loading, the login window would appear. WebUI is unable to record the event on that. Please see the attached snap shot.

I'm using the internal build 2010.2.927

Thanks,
Palani.

Hello Palani,

That particular login dialog is slightly different than the standard IE login window. We'll have to create a custom dialog handler to work with it. This is a little tricky to do, but is documented here. If I can access a website that displays this exact dialog I might be able to assist in putting it together.

Sincerely yours,
Cody

Hi,
That dialog box is provided by OS like FileDownload dialog box.

I was going through Custom Dialog handlers. How can I add/integrate that into my WebUI Test? Could you please show me a sample?

Thanks,
Palani.

Hello Palani,

I am sorry for the delay getting back to you on this. I reviewed the problem once again, talked to my developer about it, and we realized our logon dialog handler is supposed to be able to handle it. We have reproduced this problem and filed bug 78587 to have it addressed. We're too close to releasing our Q3 version to fix it in that release, but we should be able to have it released in our next service pack update.

In the meantime we are working on creating a coded solution workaround for you. Please give us a couple of days to put it together and send you the fix. It will be in the form of a custom dialog handler. But we'll do all the work creating it and will just send you the code and instructions how to use it.

Also, what you can do while waiting for us to put this together for you add a manual step as a test step to your test that says to manually log in. This is something you can do right now until we have an automated fix for you. In fact will this approach work for you for the next two weeks?

Kind regards,
Cody

Hi Palani,

Bug 78587: Login Dialog not recognized on Win XP was filed in order to fix the issue you are facing. Meanwhile we've found a very simple workaround to the problem. It turns out that WebUI Test Studio can handle the Login Dialog - it just can't detect it during recording. What this means is that you can manually add a Logon Dialog handler step at the point in your test where you know that the Login Dialog will pop-up. I've attached a sample test which demonstrates how this works - unrar it, open it and check it out. You can implement the same solution for now until we get the issue fixed.

I hope this help! - please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any trouble implementing this workaround.
