Hi,

I'm trying right now the Trial version on my desktop machine, but I want to know, the following questions:

Can I install WEbUI on a server machine? How many machines can access the WebUi at the same time if WebUi is in a server?  Do I need several licenses for that users?

And, about stress and load testing feature, it will be included in the future?

Thank you,

Hi Team,

Not sure if you are able to answer me ,about licenses, I sent an email to Daniel Levy, but looks like he is on vacations, so may be until next week I could know if I could install WEBUI Test Studio on a server, and if other machines have right to access the tool, at the same time?

Or I will need licenses on all machines that access WebUI Test Studio?

Thank you

Hello karla,

Yes I can answer that question for you.

Test Studio is licensed on a "per machine" basis. This means for each license you purchase you may install/activate it on one machine at a time. You have the option of deactivating the license from one machine in order to activate it on another machine. We have a few customers that do this so they can use the tool at work then start using it at home. It's also useful when transferring the license from one user to another.

You can install the tool on a server and let multiple users access the tool... one user at a time, not simultaneously. I hope this answers your questions. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have further licensing questions.

Hi,

Ok, thank you for your quick response.

In that case, with multiple machines, the tool, or telerik will need aditional information about the PCs that will have intalled WebUI?

Or just, with one license, I can install the product in several machines, and then just use the feature of Active/Desactive?

Thanks,

Hi karla,

If you purchase multiple licenses you can install the tool on multiple machines and activate it (the tool will not let you do anything without activation) on all the machines up to your license count limit. We don't really gather information from your PC's other than a unique machine identification, which is automatically done during the activation process within the tool. This machine ID is then stored on our license server. We remove that machine ID if you deactivate that license.

Yes you could install the tool on multiple machines then go around activating and deactivating it on each machine serially. We do not limit how many times you can activate and deactivate your licenses.

Kind regards,

Yes, now I'm more clear.

So, I asked that b/c I want to simulate like a stress testing, but as by the tool is not able yet, we want to run in several machines a test.

so my next question about that,  what happen with the virtual machines?  I want to set at least 15 virtual machines, can I run a test on these virtual machines, or I need a kind of licenses for them?
How can I manage that, using WebUi and virtual machines?

thanks,

Hello karla,

For setting up multiple machines to simulate a load we recommend purchasing and installing Test Studio Run Time which retails for just  $199 per license (again per machine). The difference is that Run Time version includes no UI. It includes only the command line tools necessary for executing tests.

Best wishes,

Hi karla,

There is no trial version for Test Studio Run Time. You don't really need one because the same command line tools are included with Test Studio trial. The only significant difference between the full Test Studio and the Run Time version is that the GUI components have been removed.

How to use the command line tools is documented here.
