Is it possible to automate testing of tooltips?

Hi Kristine Ayson,
Unfortunately at this time it is not really possible. It is on our TODO list but I can't give an ETA on this feature. The closest we can come is to automate hovering the mouse over an element in order to make the tooltip appear. We don't have a mechanism that will allow you to read what the tooltip is and verify it is correct. You could take a screenshot and manually look at the screenshot after a test run. Would that work for you?

Hi Cody,
There are pages in the application I'm testing that have A LOT of tooltips. But snapshots will work for now. :)
Will the testing time be affected if the tool takes many screenshots?

Kristine

Hello Kristine Ayson,
I don't think the tests running time will be significantly affected by many screenshots. I believe each screenshot takes 20-30 milliseconds to perform (depending on the performance of the hardware). So even 100 screenshots is only an additional 2-3 seconds of run time. Is that OK?
