Good Morning,

I am new to Test Studio and am unable to use the highlight element option when recording in Firefox and Chrome.  IE is sketchy at best. When the button is selected the mouse starts randomly passing over every element and at that point I have to start the task manager and close the browser.  I am running Win 10 1607 build 14393.693 and the latest version of Test studio 2017.1  I have been successful with one instance of IE 11.   I must reboot my system in order to use the other browsers.

Hi Lisa,

Thank you for your interest in Telerik Test Studio.

I would like to note that Firefox and Chrome recently released their latest versions 52 and 57 respectively. These releases introduced plenty of changes in the browsers' workflow and we also had to adjust our product accordingly. With our latest release from last week we also published new extensions for these two browsers.

Having this in mind I would like you to double check which versions of both browsers you currently have. Please upgrade both browsers and Test Studio to their latest releases and then double check if the browsers are calibrated. Then give a try to the recording again.

If you still face the same behavior please let me know if this is against any application or a specific one? If it is a specific page would it be possible to provide me access to it?

If there is no change in using the highlighting please generate the application log during such a faulty recording session against Chrome and Firefox and then provide it for further investigation. Please note to clear the log file prior that to ensure only relative to the current issue records will be stored within.

I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Elena,

I am current on all my browsers.  I am attaching the log files.   I am connecting to MSN.com and trying to use the highlight tool and it is all over the place.  I have also adjusted my monitors to 100% and I receive the same results.  With IE it hits every frame and if it finally catches up to my mouse if I right click and view elements, then I will eventually see the elements and maybe select one.

Hello Elena,

On a hunch, I updated my version of Windows 10 to 1067 build 14393.969 and I have had success with the highlighting tool with Chrome and IE.  Firefox tries but I have to end the task.  As long as I am able to use the tool in IE or Chrome I should be all set.

Regards,

Lisa
