Hi ,

I am very new to this tool . I want some help .following are some questions:

a)  I have to record many tests and they have a large number of steps in common . Is there any way , that I copy same steps from an already recorded test and paste it in another test so that I dont need to record same steps multiple times.

b) Is there any way  by which we can use local data table of one test and paste in another and make modifications to the local data tables as necessary.

c) What is the process by which I can handle any If then else conditions , that is, conditional statements in my recorded steps in my test.

Hi Jayita,

Thanks for the post and your trial of WebUI Test Studio. I'll answer your questions by point:

a) If there are multiples steps used in different tests, we suggest creating one test, then calling that test
from another test using WebUI's Test as a Step Feature. The option to add the test as a step is shown in the screenshot on page 38 of the Quick Start Guide.

b) If you are looking to reuse  a data source amoung different tests, it would probably be easiest to use an external data source to bind to the different tests. To do this in QA edition, please see the attached screenshots and binding the test steps themselves is the same as using the local data grid.

c) Conditionals are only really handled in custom steps. Please see the subject 'Customizing Your Test Using C# or VB.NET Code' in the Quick Start Guide for reference.

Let us know if you have any questions on this.
