Hi,

We are evaluation Web UI test QA edition.

I want to know is there any way i can copy a step and then paste it directly in the middle of recorded step. Currently when you paste the step it paste the copied step at the end of the recorded test.

Also can we add new codded step directly in middle of recorded test.

Your advice with this query will be very helpful

Hello Akbar,

Thanks for asking about inserting new steps into an existing test.

You are correct; newly pasted steps are inserted at the end of the test. The best approach is to CTRL or SHIFT select all steps to be moved, then drag them to the specified location. However, in our new version due out in approximately a month, we have added the ability to paste a step anywhere in the test.

Yes, you can add a new step anywhere in the test. Right click any step, then select "record next step…" before or after the selected step. You can then right click the new step and choose "Customize Step in Code" if desired.

Hope this helps.

This is great news!!  It is a feature that I sorely miss in my current version.

Is the new version out?  Where can I get it?

Also, how will it work?  I am hoping that there is a way to specify the location to paste (either before or after a selected step).

Hello Shashi,

Yes, our R1 2011 version was released yesterday.

Copy or cut the desired step(s), right click the appropriate step in the middle of the test, and select Paste. The step(s) will be inserted directly after.

All the best,
