Hi all,
I have just this past few days downloaded the trial of Telerik Test Studio and am running into a bit of a problem.

I record a simple test (though this appears to happen in other situations) such as:

Navigate to http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com/linking/linking_famsupp_70.html

Click 'ThisLinkLink'
Connect to pop-up window

The test does not replay correctly in Firefox, erroing on the 'connect the pop-up window' step.
Safari exhibits the same behaviour.
IE and Chrome replay as expected.

I am running latest version of Telerik Test Studio (Evaluation), Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit, Firefox 3.6.16, Safari 5.0.5.

I can't see any reason for this to fail with the exception of a bad config.
I have followed the supplied configuration documentation twice now for each of the failing browsers to no avail.

Any thoughts?

Best regards,
  Stewart.

Hello Stewart,

Thanks for evaluating Test Studio. I was able to reproduce your issue on the web site you provided.

For Safari, the fix is simple:
  1. Highlight step 2 - Click 'ThisLinkLink'
  2. Go to the Properties pane on the right.
  3. Under the Behavior heading, change ClosesBrowser to True.
The Firefox behavior, however, is more puzzling. The main window is closed instead of the popup. I have logged a bug on this:

Here you can find the PITS Issue: Public URL

Hi Anthony,
  Thanks for looking into this.

As to the fix you provided for Safari - It works, however is this the expected behaviour?

WRT the FireFox issue - I was evaluating the test list portion of the application and noticed that the test case passed in this mode of execution. I retried several times and execution from the record page failed, execution as a part of a test list succeeded.

Peculiar behaviour, I hope this helps. I've added this information to the PITS issue.

Cheers,
  Stew.

Hello Stewart,

It seems there is a communication issue with this web site and Safari. Although the link is clicked and the popup opens, Test Studio does not move past step 2. By setting ClosesBrowser to True, Test Studio does not wait for the "talk back" communication from Safari and immediately realizes it is an HTML popup to eventually be closed.

Thanks for updating the PITS issue and I'm glad you found a work-around in the meantime.

Hello Stewart,

This issue was fixed in an internal build released today: version 2011.1.621. This is available for download from the "Your Account" link at the top of www.telerik.com. The HTML popup now behaves properly when quick executed in Firefox.
