Coded steps failed to compile

Hi,

When i add an element to the Project Elements on my old Test Studio Project and create a coded step. I always get an error of Compilation Failed - 1/1 coded steps failed to compile. External code failed to compile.

How can I resolve this issue?

Addional question: how to the element repository work? what if two developers/testers working on a same project and are testing a page and recorded a same element/action? will the elements overlap?

Hi, I have a similar problem.

I just upgraded to the latest version 2011.1.609.0 from the previous version.

In the stand alone version my tests fail to run when I add a custom coded step or even if I "Customize test in code" and make no changes.  The error is:

(CS0246) The type or namespace name 'Pages' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

In the project folder there is a "Pages.g.cs" file and in the test folder where all the test are.

However I still get this error.  However the time stamp on the file is not current, isn't the file created automatically when "build/Execute" is deployed? 

If I create a new project and new test in the stand alone version this problem does not surface.  I exported the project for VS10, rebuilded solution, ran it, saved, reopened in Standa alone version and still no problems.

What can be the problem with my other project that fails due to "Pages" error?

Hello Eyjolfur,

I am sorry you have run into this problem. Yes the Pages.g.cs file is supposed to be automatically re-generated (and all the source files compiled into a .dll) when you go to execute your tests. Since this appears to not be happening correctly I'd very much like to analyze your test project to try and determine the root cause. There is no setting or any other condition which would cause the symptom you are describing.

Please place your entire test project into a .zip file and attach that file for us to analyze. You may want to open a support ticket since they are only viewable by yourself and support (unlike this public forum).

Please refer to the attached image for the UI. If I want to click on a specific elipses(three dots) icon using Test Studio, how do I do that in a kendo grid since no unique attribute is available for the different ellipses?

I have added a piece of selenium code in a step after recording a few steps and getting the build error given in the attached document. I have added selenium dlls in setting. Please suggest how to remove this.
