Hi
I am new to this tool 'Automated QA Edition'. I have to perform a 'Click' operation over a RadMenuitem which is not visible by default. This item is a submenu. I am not able to record the event for left menu navigation from parent menu to submenu.
Can anyone please help.

Hello Pritima,
Often with pop-up menus you must manually record a mouse hover step, so the sub-menu appears and is clickable. Here's how to do that:
1. Record to the point where the parent menu is visible.
2. Enable hover over highlighting by clicking the icon containing a blue, green, and orange square docked at the top of the browser.
3. Place your cursor over the parent menu until the blue nub appears. Click it.
4. Choose Mouse Actions.
5. Choose Mouse Hover.
6. Choose Center.
7. Then record the click on the sub-menu.

Thanks for your support but I am still not able to record the exact scenario.
I followed the steps you mentioned but no step is getting added in the WebUI Test Studio window if i record it through the highlighting nob you specified.
Can you please explain with the help of demo.

Hello Pritima,
As we discussed in our GoToMeeting today, our last official release is not entirely compatible with Internet Explorer 9. Your steps should record properly after upgrading to our latest internal build. Our next official release is due out late this month and includes IE9 and Firefox 4 support.

Yes, you were right. It was the problem with the old version that the event was not getting recorded.
But after installing the latest version the event "Mouse Hover" is getting recorded but while executing the same its not getting executed as desired.
While executing, the Mouse Hover event on the Main Menu executes correctly but when its the turn for submenu the mouse hover/click event is not getting executed.
Please help.

Glad to hear we've made some progress. I tested this on a Telerik RadControls demo site. I successfully recorded and executed the mouse hover and the sub-menu click. Instead of recording the click normally, you might try invoking a "blind" mouse click as described in this KB article.
If you still have difficulty, we would like to reproduce the issue locally to best troubleshoot it. If granting us access is not possible, I can schedule another GoToMeeting.

Also, I would like to ask if the time period for my trial version can be extended as i have to complete the feasibility study of this tool for our application. But due to this issue I am strucked and couldn't complete the same.

Unfortunately we cannot interpret the attached Fiddler trace because it was done on a secure connection. The entries are all locked. Please run it again on an unsecure connection (preferable). If you cannot, then go to Tools->Fiddler Options and click the HTTPS tab. Check the "Capture HTTPS CONNECTs" and "Decrypt HTTPS traffic" boxes. A screenshot is attached. Once we receive the new Fiddler trace we will investigate.
We just rolled out a new major release of Test Studio. Rather than extend your existing trial, please log into your Telerik.com and download the new R1 2011 release of Test Studio. Activating this new version will extend your trial.

Thank you for providing the new Fiddler file; it worked great.
I successfully recorded and executed a test that expanded and clicked on the main menu and sub-menus. The key was to first disable certain RadTranslators:
With those translators off, the steps will now be normal "Click" steps. With the sub-menus that only require a hover when recording, I still left-clicked the mouse at each point to ensure it would be properly expanded upon test execution.
My sample test now looks like this:
If your web app uses other RadControls that are not recording properly, it may be necessary to disable those translators as well and re-record steps as mentioned above.
I will file a bug on this. The RadTranslators should work normally with the recent version of RadControls you are using. In the meantime, you should have success with the steps provided above.

- Click Translators on the left side of UserSettings.

As per your solution, I recorded the test scenario again after making the required settings for RAD Translators. It is getting executed without showing any failure steps but in the browser the corresponding page doesn't gets opened. So my problem still persist.

Did the page load correctly when recording? If so, this sounds like it could be a jQuery event that did not fire during test execution. The link is being clicked yet the subsequent page does not load after the click. Please review this KB article on the topic.
If this is not a jQuery scenario or those steps did not work, we can schedule another GoToMeeting to troubleshoot first-hand.
