I have two automated tests that run against a SL Out of Browser application.  Both these tests are running correctly.  The problem occurs when I add both tests to a test list.   In (Test List) Edit Settings (for the Browser Option), I select Silverlight Out of Browser.  When I select Run List, it looks like Test Studio is about to run my tests.  But, the OOB Silverlight application never opens.  Then, Test Studio is on the Results tab with the timeline on the screen.  How do I get my automated scripts to run in the Test List?

Sometimes I see Internet Explorer open.  And then it closes.

Hello Amrit,
I've confirmed this issue. I've went ahead and logged it as a bug. You can track its progress here:
http://www.telerik.com/support/pits.aspx#/public/test-studio/11834

You do need to set your TestList setting to OutOfBrowser (screenshot 1). But I simply couldn't get it to work even with the correct settings for the TestList. Unfortunately, there's no workaround for this. Quick Execution is your only option for the moment.

Hi Amrit,
I have some good use: we've managed to resolve this.

Now we need to get a build that contains the fix to you. Currently we have a SP2 version of Test Studio coming out very soon. The fix will not be available because currently we have a code freeze - changes made very recently will not make it into SP2.

Instead, what we can do is whip up a custom build for you. We can do this either right now or after the SP2 release. If we create the build now, we will have to create a second custom build for you after SP2 so that you may upgrade. SP2 should come out by the end of next week. Please let me know whether you can wait or if you need to custom build with the fix right now.

Wow!  Thanks for the help.  You guys are awesome!!

Right now I am evaluating Test Studio.   Today, I presented the product to the QA team and they seem interested.

The Test List feature seems to be an important feature to allow running the multiple tests needed for regression.

I would like a custom build with this feature added in right now.  Please let me know.

Hello Amrit,
I've uploaded the custom build to a dropbox folder. I've added you (using the e-mail I got from your Telerik account) to this folder. Let me know if the issue is still not resolved.

Keep in mind that you might have to fiddle with the settings for the TestList a bit in order to get it to work OOB.

All the best,
Stoich

I installed this new build and I was able to run a test list on my OOB application.  Yeah!!  It ran!!  Thank you!!  The tests seem to execute just fine.  However, when the tests are complete, I am taken to the results tab and I see a timeline.  I do not see the test results.  I thought there would be a rectangle somewhere on the timeline with a color of green, red or yellow.  Then I would be be able click into the results.  I do not see that anywhere.  Did I miss something on the configuration?

Hi Amrit,
I just tired the build myself and it seemed to be working nicely. I had no problem accessing the results as seen in this video:

I figured out the problem.  The user has to have firefox installed. An error msg appears and quickly disappears.  It says something about object reference not set.  Then it says something about FireFox (See Attached).  I installed FireFox and it works. You guys may want to look into this issue.  But, I am happy it works. Thank you very much for all the help.

Hello Amrit,
I'm glad to hear the issue was resolved.

So the missing test result is just a symptom of the problem. The actual problem was that the test was not running - it was failing immediately.  I've went ahead and logged this as a bug and I've added 500 Telerik points to your account for discovering this issue.

I've also requested a new custom build (containing the TestList fix) for our brand new SP2. As previously mentioned, we introduced the TestList fix too late in order for it to make it into the official SP2 build.

You can checkout the release notes for the new release here:
