I have installed Telerik version 2012.1.719.0 on a Windows 2008 server to use as a Scheduling Service and Execution Server. I have installed sql server express 2008. Scheduling Server and Execution Server have been successfully configured. The application can be loaded and run locally. However, test scheduled to run the machine fails as does Run List Remotely.

I have check the following;

port 8009 is enabled on the firewall
Execution Server is run as Administrator
The Project folder as full permissions (read, write execute).

The error message is "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."
The project directory is created (with the unique id appended) is created at execution time but it is empty. There are not entries in the log directory.

I can connect to the scheduling server and retrieve the schedules and reports.

The entries in the Windows Security Log.

Security Audit failure
Account failed to logon
Administrator currently disabled

It seems that the Execution Server is trying logon as a guest user. Why would need guest access for a domain if the applications is being run as an Administrator?

Checked permissions on the folders and full permissions to everyone
Scheduling Service and execution service are running as domain administrator.

Any suggestions?

Hello Asare,

More likely you are not using a domain user when you are running Test Studio or both machines the Scheduling and the Execution server are not in the same domain. Please ensure the Execution Server is in the same Domain as the Scheduling Server and update this thread.

Looking forward to hear from you.

The problem stems from the following;

  1. The machine running the scheduling service and execution server has local Administrator rights.
  2. Although it is part of the domain.
  3. Telerik Services ere installed as local Administrator
  4. Telerik Services and the local Administrator do not have access to the domain share even thought it is pointing on the machine it self.

The solution is point the project directory to a local folder instead of a network or domain share.

Hello Asare,

Please let me know if I can consider this as resolved issue, meaning you found your solution or you still are experiencing problems. If the issue is not resolved I will need you to provide me with the scheduling log so I can investigate further. Please find attached a short video on how to export the Execution log.
Also here is a useful article describing how to solve common scheduling problems.

Looking forward to hear from you.

All the best,

Solved.

In a Microsoft network domain; The Telerik scheduling server and execution servers must be installed on machine(s) with domain access and access to a domain share. Using a local machine Administrator does not grant access to the domain share which causes the error. Failing that, you can use IP address if accounts have access to the shared or remote folders.
