Hi there -
I created a project in Visual Studio using Telerik's plugin for VS - everything works great when I run the tests in VS.  However, I wanted to take advantage of the reporting capabilities of Test Studio, so I tried to load my project in Test Studio - however, I cannot load my tests because it tells me the code-behind file is missing.  When I am asked if I want to search for the code-behind file, I am only given the option of searching for tstest.vb files.  All of my code-behind files are in C#, and thus are tstest.cs files.  I am currently using Test Studio 2012.2.1527.0

Is there a bug that prevents me from opening projects with tstest.cs code-behind files, or is there a setting that I can change that will allow Test Studio to recognize these files?  Thanks!
 - Jeanie

ps. I'd like to also note the following in my Settings.aiis file, which seems to indicate everything is set properly:
<ProjectLanguage Type="ArtOfTest.Common.Design.CodeGeneration.CodeGenerationLanguage">CSharp</ProjectLanguage>

Hi Jeanie,

The issue is most likely with the file filter in the lower right of the Open file dialog. It sounds like it is set to only display files with the tstest.vb extension. The solution is to do one of the following:

  1. Change the file filter to search for tstest.cs files
  2. Start typing in the file name box and selects the code-behind file in the list. See the attached screen shot for an example.

If you are still having issues after trying both options, please reply with screenshots of the behavior and a test project we can use to reproduce the behavior

The dropdown gave me tstest.vb as the only possible option for files to search for, as per my earlier post - it was not possible to change the filter since no other options existed in the dropdown.

However, I figured out the problem.  The original project was in vb, but my solution was in C#.  If I choose the solution instead of the whole project, it correctly detects C# as the code-behind files.

Hi Jeanie,

I am facing the same problem. I am unable to open the solution in Telerik Test Studio. it is giving the error "Code Behind file is missing ".
After selecting the ".tstest.cs" file also it is giving the same error.

As per your suggestion, Selecting solution instead of whole project.
How to do this, i am unable to select the solution.

Please suggest me with solution ASAP.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi Mahendra,

You can only select the solution if your project was created in Visual Studio’s Test Studio plugin. If the project was created in Test Studio (full edition), then the suggested fix won’t work for you because there is no VS solution to choose.

Was the project coded in VB or C# ? I recommend verifying that you are using the correct file type when choosing the code-behind file in Test Studio. If you’re still having issues after verifying the file, we’ll need you to reply with screenshots of the behavior and project structure so we can get a better idea of what’s causing your issue.

When was the last time the project opened? What version of Test Studio are you running?
