When capturing a user profile for a load test, I captured it from an existing web test. The web test involves logging into a Silverlight-based web app, so I would expect that the login info and the session token would've been detected as dynamic data. However, when I click on the Dynamic Targets button on the Edit User Profile dialog, there are no rows in the Select Dynamic Targets to Use grid. If Test Studio is unable to detect this info, load testing will be useless for this app, so I'm hoping there's a work-around.

Hi Matt,

Do you know what type of logon this application is using? Currently Test Studio does not support Windows Authentication in load testing. We are planning to include this feature in our R2 release, due out next week. If you're not sure what type of logon is being used, send me a screen shot of your logon form and I should be able to guess which type is being used.

The app allows you to optionally use Windows authentication, but for these tests, I was not using that. I was using app-specific logon information.

Hello Matt,

I apologize for the delay getting back to you. I just had another thought... if Test Studio is failing to capture any of the HTTP traffic then (rather obviously) we wouldn't detect any dynamic targets. To prove or disprove such a theory, what do you see when you finish creating your load test? Do you see a list of HTTP transactions similar to this Edit User Profile screen shot?

If not i.e. there are no steps contained in your User Profile it means something about your system/environment is silently preventing us from capturing HTTP traffic. I recently saw this happen on another customers computer. Once we turned off his Trend Micro Anti-virus firewall then we were able to capture HTTP traffic.

Please check for this and let me know your results.

All the best,
Cody

Hello,

I am trying to set up load testing, though the application I am testing uses Windows authentification. I was just wondering if the update that you mentioned was out yet, and what the exact version number is?

Andrew
