I have noticed during my evaluation of both QA and Developer Editions that I was unable to get the mouse wheel event to be recognized as a step. This important for us since we use maps and charts. Is there a work around or a fix on the way?

Hello TWT,
I am sorry but the tool currently does not detect and record mouse wheel events. You can always write code in a code behind method to inject mouse wheel events. Here's the MS documentation for the mouse_event function you'll need to use to send mouse wheel events.
You'll find documentation for how to add code behind methods in our Quick Start guide (located on the start menu) starting on page 38.
