Just an FYI for anyone running into this; I didn't see another thread about it on here.

I've run into some issues around automating popups that exit out to another URL with my default browser settings.  When I am recording with IE9 and my internet options are set to allow IE9 to decide between opening links in a new Tab or a new Window, I'm not getting the "Connect to Pop-up Window" step during my recording (it appears the record control is staying focused on the initial tab and not being applied to the new tab even though it appears there).  The work around is to change your IE settings to always open links in a new window.  This causes the record control to populate on the new window when it is opened and you can proceed with recording.

Hello James,

You are correct; IE must be set to open pop-ups in a new window and not in a tab. This setting and all others related to configuring Internet Explorer for Test Studio automation are outlined here.

Hello James,

The work around you suggested as to change the IE settings to "always open links in a new window".
This is not working, even upon terminating the crrent browser process. It still shows an information at the bottom of the browser page.
I want itto pop-up in a separate window as it does in earlier IE versions.

Kindlyhelp

Thanks

Hi Samar,

Thank you for contacting Telerik support. From my understanding, based on the screenshot and your explanation, you are referring to the location of the notification bar in Internet Explorer 9. This differs from the original thread topic referencing an issue where users aren't notified of HTML popups due to IE settings being configured to open links in new tabs.

The location of the notification bar that you are referring to is expected behavior and cannot be changed in Internet Explorer 9. There are no controls to alter the notification bar location in Test Studio. If you would like to change the location of the notification bar, I suggest contacting Microsoft Support and submit a feature request to be considered in future versions. Please let me know if this helps.
