Hi

I experience the same problem in several sections on my application.
While recording the test for some of the sections of my application the Hover-Over recognition tool does not work properly. It still recognizes and highlights the frames of the elements on the page, like tabs, textboxes etc but then when I hover over it does not bring up the so-called "bulb" with all the actions you can do over the element. It does not do anything at all.
I wonder if this is a known problem and if there exists a workaround?

Thanks in advance
Helen

Hello Helen,

Occasionally, on very complex web pages, I have noticed that sometimes you need to move the mouse away from the element, then back again for the tool to correctly recognize the element under the mouse. It is an area we are aware of and working to improve upon.

Also keep in mind we don't work with Flash objects of other special ActiveX objects that can be inserted into web pages. We only work with HTML elements and Silverlight applications displayed in the web browser.

Hi Cody

The thing is that the tool seems to recognize the elements ok - it puts them in green and grey frames. It's the action bulb that does not appear afterwards. I even tried to wait for a minute or two without moving my mouse - still no result.

And the page is based on Silverlight only, no additional elements.

I really need this fixed somehow (I even consider the coded step).

Best wishes
Helen

Hello Helen

I have a few suggestions:

1) Make sure your IE is configured as suggested: http://www.artoftest.com/support/webaii/topicsindex.aspx?topic=configureie7

2) Check your IE version and Silverlight Version and post them here... I use IE 7 and SIlverlight 4, both work well.

3) Could it be an addon problem? (disable them all and try it...)

4) Does the problem only happen on your wesbite/solutiion? If not it is more likely to be client side (your IE, Silverlight etc)

Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom

As suggested I checked the settings of my browser and they are OK. I use IE8 with Silverlight4. I disabled all the addons apart from those of WebUI but I still hit the same problem. The hover-over tool works perfectly for most of functionality withtin the application but experience problems on few pages.

Is it possible that the version of Explorer causes this?

Thanks in advance
Helen

Morning Helen

I do not work for Telerik, I am just a user of the software, just so you know.

If you can uninstalled IE8 and Install IE7 without too much trouble, there is no harm in trying it, if you have time.

You can find older versions of IE at http://www.filehippo.com/download_internet_explorer_xp/

It's a website that keeps track of the free software, they have older versions of most free software.

I hope this might help, if not I have no ideas. I would raise a ticket with Telerik and see what else they can come up with.

Regards,
Tom

Hello tom,

I talked to my developer that wrote that code and we're both stumped how or why this could possibly be happening. Could you tell us a bit about your environment (OS, is this local machine or remote desktop or a virtual machine)?

I'd like to see this first hand. Can we schedule a GoToMeeting to look at this behavior together? Let me know what time zone you are in and your availability and I'll setup the meeting. I'm in Austin, TX which is Central Time (GMT -6).

Sincerely yours,
Cody

Hi Cody,

I know you addressed Tom, but as far as I understand he has no problem with WebUI - it's me who does.
It would be perfect if you could take a look at it. I'm in Portland, ME (GMT -5) and will be available 9AM-5PM, Tue-Fri next week.
Let me know what suits best for you.

My environment is:
Windows 7 x64(physical machine).
IE 8.0.7600
Silverlight version 4

Please let me know if there is any other information you need before the meeting.

Thanks in advance
Helen

Hi Helen,

I appreciate you taking the time to demonstrate this problem to me today. After ending the meeting I spoke to my developer some more. He mentioned that waiting 30 seconds won't really help. If the nub doesn't show up after 2-3 seconds, move to a different element then back again. We recognize we have a timing issue we need to work on. Hopefully we can get direct access to your application so we will be able to work on the performance of our tool for you.

Best wishes,
Cody
