Our app will be getting a dynamic window title. This has caused problems in Test Studio since the elements are categorized under window titles. A change in the title of a window causes the tests to wait for the old window title before searching for the element. I've tried in the element's explorer to change the caption and friendly name of the window holding the elements to a partial title. This works only for the time I am working in Test Studio. If I close out and reload, then about half of the elements that were changed will be rebuilt under the old window title, and half will remain the new title. I can't seem to get all of the elements to accept the new partial title for the window on reload.

Update:

So I am trying to change the window title from "Housing Data Systems - Kanso" to "~ Kanso". When I change a window title (friendly name and caption) it appears to work for every element under the previous window title. But when I save, close and come back in, it appears that only the elements that were in the open test when the change was made were actually updated to the new window title. This causes me to have to change the window title, save come back in, look for the old window in the elements explorer, pick an element under the old window and click used by, change the title again, save, close out and repeat over and over. Slowly but surely, the elements are going under the correct partial title "~ Kanso".

So to conclude, it appears changing the window title of an element will only change the elements used in an open test. The other elements in the project will appear to change, but when you exit and come back in, only those elements used in the open test were updated to the new window title.
