Hi,

The website I am trying to record a test against has a text field with a default string in it. As part of the test, I have to change that string to a different value (through the action of backspace/deleting the old string, and typing the new one in). i seemed to be having difficulty recording the action of deleting the default string. When I played the test back, it appends the new string value to the end of the default value (it does not capture the action of deleting the default value).

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Zach

Hello Zachary,

I tested your scenario on a sample web site but could not reproduce it.

I navigated to a site with a text box that is pre-filled with "Enter you comments here..." I deleted that phrase in two ways. First, I placed the cursor at the end, held backspace, and then typed a new phrase. Second, I highlighted the phrase and then typed a new phrase, which replaced the old.

In neither case was a step recorded that solely deleted the existing text. The recorded step simply set the 'CommentsTextArea' to 'New Phrase.' During execution, the 'New Phrase' correctly replaced the old phrase and did not append to it. Please see the screenshot attached.

If you continue to have difficulty with this, please provide a link to the site you are testing for me to troubleshoot and reproduce locally.
