Dear Telerik,

Congratulations with your new release.  Just switched from the old-non-prometheus controls to the new release.  And boy was I in for a performance treat on the RadGrid - absolutely stunning!  Thanks!

I also noticed you have done some work on the installation part, it seems as it installs faster - nice touch.

Ok, but tell me what happened to the RadRotator - how come you've managed to put all the "old" controls in the release and not the rotator, is it no longer part of the suite?

Overall ... again and again ... in every new release I'm surprised by the new quality and stability, keep up the good work.

I was hoping that the editor in 2008.1 would finally be fixed, especially since some things are pretty simple.  I shouldn't have to modify my CSS in order to get the "expected behavior" from the controls.  The editor is definitely the most difficult to work with in this regard.

These controls shouldn't be making any assumptions about the state of CSS that is cascading down to them and override everything that might affect the appearance.

1. If you have CSS that does any manipulation of UL and LI attributes, you might find that your toolbar items have additional spaces between the items.  The fix is simple (below).

ul.rade_toolbar li
{
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
}

2. A second issue occurs when you have a table nested in the editor. Although the rest of the text in the editor inherits the font and size from the surrounding page, as soon as that text is placed inside a table, it gets larger.  Again, a CSS fix has been provided, but there must be some other workaround (in a subsequent update) that wouldn't require me to do this:

table td
{
   font-size: 11px !important;
   font-family: Arial !important;
}

Don't get me wrong.  I love these controls, but these minor things really get under my skin sometimes! :-)

A couple of RadDock questions....

Is there a way to disable the scrollbars in the Docking Zone?

Is there an easy way that you can programatically (in vb) change the size of a floating RadDock after post back?

Does a RadDock stay in the current browser window, or if you have multiple monitors, can you click and drag the RadDock to the other screen....(I'm asking because I don't have dual-monitors.)

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I cant work out how to make dynamically created menu's postback?

<snippet of code that demonstates the problem>

 protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
        LoadEditMenu();
    }

    protected void LoadEditMenu()
    {
        try
        {

            RadMenu radmenu = (RadMenu)this.FindControl("RadMenu2");

            RadMenuItem mnuItem = new RadMenuItem();
            mnuItem.Text = " Open Me";
            mnuItem.CssClass = "White";
            radmenu.Items.Add(mnuItem);

            RadMenuItem mnuSubItem = new RadMenuItem();
            mnuSubItem.Text = "Settings";
            mnuSubItem.CssClass = "White";
            mnuItem.Items.Add(mnuSubItem);

            mnuSubItem = new RadMenuItem();
            mnuSubItem.Text = "Delete";
            mnuSubItem.CssClass = "White";
            mnuItem.Items.Add(mnuSubItem);

            mnuSubItem = new RadMenuItem();
            mnuSubItem.Text = "Print";
            mnuSubItem.CssClass = "White";
            mnuItem.Items.Add(mnuSubItem);

            radmenu.ItemClick += new RadMenuEventHandler(this.RadMenu_ItemClick);

             //In the real web app, controls get loaded at runtime
            //ctrl.Controls.Add(radmenu);

        }
        catch
        { }

    }

    protected void RadMenu_ItemClick(object sender, RadMenuEventArgs e)
    {

        RadMenuItem ItemClicked = e.Item;

        Response.Redirect(ItemClicked.Text.ToString() + ".aspx");
    }

</snippet>

My RadMenu_ItemClick method never gets invoked!

 In the article (http://www.telerik.com/DEMOS/ASPNET/Menu/Examples/Programming/ServerEvents/DefaultCS.aspx) you assign the delegate in InititalizeComponent,eg:

 private void InitializeComponent()
        {
            this.Menu1.ItemClick += new RadMenuEventHandler(this.Menu1_ItemClick);

How can I do this for dynamically created menus that sit inside dynamically created user controls??

I've read the doco's and its something I I feel should be documented here: http://www.telerik.com/demos/aspnet/Menu/Examples/Programming/DynamicCreation/DefaultCS.aspx

Kind regards,

Jeremy

Hello,

In Sharepoint, all Quick Launch entries must have an associated URL.  I use a false URL for items that are top-level categories.  Sometimes the top-level is a proper URL.  Thus, I want to test on any selected URL to see if it contains my false URL before allowing the event to proceed.  Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to get the selected URL as text.  The LinkElement displays as the URL, but testing on it does not work.  Here's a sample of what I am trying to do:

<script type="text/javascript">
   function OnClientItemClickingHandler(sender, eventArgs)
   {
       if(eventArgs.Item.Expanded == true)
       {
         eventArgs.Item.Collapse();
       }
       else
       {
         eventArgs.Item.Expand();
       }
       if(eventArgs.Item.LinkElement.indexOf("go_nowhere")>-1)
      {
       return false;
       }
   }
</script>

My Panelbar has an OnClientItemClicking event that calls this function.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Doug
