Telerik AJAX controls .NET 2.0 support discontinued as of Q1 2011

Following the Telerik AJAX Product Support Lifecycle model (which closely resembles the Microsoft one), the time has come to retire the .NET 2.0 support for our AJAX controls. This will happen officially with the Q1 2011 release of the suite, slated in a couple of weeks, meaning that you will no longer receive .NET 2.0 versions of the Telerik AJAX assemblies, projects or VS 2005 integration as part of the installation packs. With this step the .NET 2 versions of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX available in previous releases will enter their extended (paid) support phase as shown in the diagram from...

RadRibbonBar for ASP.NET AJAX arrives in Q1 2011

As some of you may have already seen in our roadmap, we are about to release a brand new AJAX RadRibbonBar control with Q1 2011. In fact, we released a Q1 2011 beta with a preview of this control and live demos almost a week ago. I will describe here what the control looks like, does and will do in the final release. Some forewords,or the importance of the KISS principle We all know that Microsoft's Ribbon control is quite complex and requires its rendering to be flexible to allow execution of its resizing features and overall presentation. This is the reason...

RadDatePicker & RadTimePicker for WP7 get null-value support

You’ve talked and we’ve listened: as of Beta 2 release of RadControls for Windows Phone 7 the RadTimePicker and RadDatePicker controls support null-value. In other words, you will be able to set the current value to null and display a custom message to your users informing them that there is no value selected in the control at the time: this.radTimePicker1.Value = null; this.radTimePicker1.EmptyContent = "Select time";   There are also two additional properties which are used in this context: EmptyContent – defining the content that will be displayed to the user when there is no value selected in the control EmptyContentTemplate – defining how the empty content will...

RadScheduler for WinForms with New End-User Features in Q1 2011

Q1'11will definitely be huge to RadControls for WinForms! Best Practices: Element Identification with ID and AutomationID

As a QA professional, it’s important to get involved with the development team early on in the process. This article will discuss just one of the many benefits in doing so – coding standards and the use of ID’s for enhanced team productivity. Require this up front and you can significantly cut back test case maintenance. No matter what software you use for your test automation, the method in which elements are identified plays a critical role. Small changes to your application can often break the test’s ‘find logic’ causing your test runs to fail. Let’s say a couple elements ...

Stand Up Meetings Are About More Than Standing

“Our team is agile because we stand up for meetings!” It’s the perennial joke of the agile community. We’ve all heard of teams that feel that they are doing agile development because they stand up for their meetings. (I sincerely hope that it is more urban legend than truth.) The reality is that there is more to agile than stand up meetings and there is more to stand up meetings than simply standing. Let’s look at some of the key aspects of the stand up meeting and how you can make yours more effective. Just the Facts, Ma’am At the ...
