I see that Telerik supports keyboard navigation and I implemented that.

But I have to click on the Grid using mouse first and then I can use the keyboard to navigate down. How can I set the focus to the Grid using some Javascript method so that whenever I need I can set focus to the grid and user can start clicking up/down arrows.

Thanks,
Piyush

I am using the framework 3.5 RadComboBox to make a multicolumn dropdown. I am seeing two problems.

  1. The drop down list header does not stay in a fixed position like you can find with the telerik demos.
  2. Regardless of the width settings the dropdown list always has horizontal scroll bar. The list appears to have a 20-30 px padding-left that will not go away.

Are there know issues? Is there something I can do to fix these problems?

I have just converted one of my toolbars from RadControls Asp.Net to the New ToolBar in the 2008.1 Futures.

A the end of the page, after the </form> I kick of a number of ajax requests(using a light weight framework), those callbacks update the status of the tool bar buttons.

This worked fine in the old version, however with the new version it appears the javascript toolbar object is created a long after the toolbar is displayed. I use $find as late as possible to get the toolbar object (within the ajax callback) . However it does not appear to exist until well after the toolbar has displayed.

So when I call $find a null is returned.

I can see the following in the code :

Sys.Application.add_init(function() {
    $create(Telerik.Web.UI.RadToolBar, {"_skin":"Office2007","attributes":{},"clientStateFieldID":"ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder_CTb_ClientState","collapseAnimation":"{\"type\":12,\"duration\":200}","itemData":[{"value":"Insert","commandName":"Insert","toolTip":"Insert Item","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/insert.gif"},{"value":"Cancel","commandName":"Cancel","toolTip":"Cancel current Operation","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/cancel.gif"},{"value":"Back","commandName":"Back","toolTip":"Return to previous Operation","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/return.gif"},{"value":"Print","commandName":"Print","toolTip":"Print contents","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/print.gif"},{"value":"Config","commandName":"Config","toolTip":"Edit Configuration","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/option.gif"},{"value":"Export","commandName":"Export","toolTip":"Export Items","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/excel.gif"},{"value":"Import","commandName":"Import","toolTip":"Import Items","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/excel.gif"},{"value":"Admin","commandName":"Admin","toolTip":"Administration","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/admin.gif"},{"value":"Tool","commandName":"Tool","toolTip":"Run Tool","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/cog.gif"},{"value":"Map","commandName":"Map","toolTip":"View Map","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/map.gif"},{"value":"List","commandName":"List","toolTip":"View List","cssClass":" rtbWrap","imageUrl":"http://206.196.22.102/resource/toolbar/list.gif"}]}, {"buttonClicked":contentTBClickHandler}, null, $get("ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder_CTb"));
});

Which is before the code where I triggered the Ajax requests, I assume since its being added to an initialization function that the toolbar is created at some latter stage.

What is the best approach here, Does this mean I should put my code in a a delegate function attached to the
Sys.Application.add_load event.

Hi, sorry for bothering you, but I'm trying to move the old code (that was working for some time) to Prometheus, and turned out to be more of a challenge then initially anticipated. Seems to be quite a few changes...
Anyway, I got thru some of the problems, but currently, I'm trying to figure out why the client events aren't working properly.
I have set up, as before (just the important parts, too many code otherwise)...
                        <ClientSettings ApplyStylesOnClient="true" >
                            <Selecting AllowRowSelect="true" EnableDragToSelectRows="true" />
                        </ClientSettings>

Then client events are set up in the code behind (for some specific reasons)...
        GridClientEvents events = _grid.Grid.ClientSettings.ClientEvents;
        _grid.Grid.ClientSettings.Selecting.AllowRowSelect = true;
        events.OnRowMouseOver = "RowMouseOver";
        events.OnRowMouseOut = "RowMouseOut";
        events.OnGridCreated = "GetGrid";
        events.OnRowSelected = "RowSelected";
        events.OnRowDeselected = "RowDeSelected";

...and javascript code is changed according to new specs, but I turned it off at the end, so I have empty handlers, each w/ (sender, eventArgs) and just alert() to dump them out...So, I think I
var myradgrid;
function GetGrid(sender, eventArgs)
{
    alert(sender);
    myradgrid = sender;
}

...so, the initial OnGridCreated works fine, but none of the others are fired.
So I presume some flag or something is missing.
On the other side, Ajax is working.
I've been thru your migration walk-throughs, covered a good deal of documentation but I guess you should be able save me some time,
THanks in advance,
Dragan

I would like to have filtering options like in Excel 2007 with  multiple checkboxes in a drop down list. I think the current default filter menu is far to complex for end users to understand and use.

I have tried to use the drop down menu examples, but it's still only filtering on one single item (I want multiple filtering items to be selectable).

It this something you have any plans to improve?

Btw, I think implementing a drop down filter menu is unnecessary complex and messy with a lot of code, isn't this something that can be implemented as standard in the grid?

Hi - this must be a simple question;

I am using prometheus controls + the Black Skin.  I want to add a button to my form but see no prometheus button with skin property.  Is there CSS built in to any of the various Black skin CSS I can apply to an input button, so it will look like the rest of prometheus controls rendered with Black Skin, and so I don't have to create one from scratch?

Thanks,
JB

I'm using the Futures release of the Rad Editor Prometheus Q3 control.  If I set the ContentAreaCssFile property to a css file without adding any css files to the CssFiles property, then my editor's content area uses the styles as it should, but the Css dropdown inherits the styles of the parent application.  But, if I add a css file to the CssFiles property of the editor, then the css downdown uses those styles only but it causes the editor's content area css to be ignored.  Basically, it appears that I can only use one property or the other.  I get the option of setting the editor's content css OR the option of setting the css for the dropdown, but not both.  Please advise.

Thanks,
Matt

If I set the mindate and maxdate values in the RadDatePicker, then the rangevalidator control does not work.  It uses the built in validation and highlights the box red.  I can set ClientEvents-OnError="OnError", but I don't want it to call that event everytime there's an error.  I mean I need to display to the user the correct error message in a alert box.  If it calls OnError everytime there is a error, then what if it's an invalid date (alpha characters) vs invalid date range entered vs required field.

The user has to know which error he committed.  The proper alert has to be displayed.

If I don't set the mindate and maxdate, the rangevalidator works.

I have a tooltip specified as below.  When I click the image and the tooltip opens it looks and works great except for one thing.

The close icon (x) shows in the upper right corner hiding part of the text.  Basically the text takes up a couple of lines and goes from the far left to the far right and the upper right corner of the text is partially hidden by the icon.

How can i fix this so that it doesn't appear on top of the text?

<

telerik:RadToolTip ID="RadToolTip2" runat="server" ManualClose="true" Width="150px" ShowEvent="OnClick" IsClientID="true" Skin="Vista" Sticky="true" Animation="Resize" ShowDelay="0" RelativeTo="Element" TargetControlID="Popup2" Text="Submitted setups only. If you supply a reference#, all other search criteria will be ignored." /><img id="Popup2" class="imgvertcenter" onclick="return false;" alt="Click for more information." hspace="3" src="/global/images/icons/icon_moreInfo.gif" style="height:16px;width:16px;border-width:0px;cursor:hand;" />

The following demo does not have enough code for the webservice - it just gives the signature that it should return string - but how this string should be formatted? is it name value pair?

http://www.telerik.com/DEMOS/ASPNET/Prometheus-futures/ToolTip/Examples/WebService/DefaultCS.aspx

Please provide enough code in the sample.
