RadDataBoundListBox for WP7 matures, now adds Multiple Items Selection support

Q2 2011 Beta 2 of RadControls for Windows Phone 7 is on its way and part of the box is a meaty new RadDataBoundListBox feature: multiple items selection ability. As many of you already know, the mail client on all Windows Phones shows a check box next to each visual container thus allowing the end-user to select a bunch of items and perform an action with them. RadDataBoundListBox can now do pretty much the same thing by exposing a very convenient API and neat UX for working with checkboxes. There is now a CheckedItems collection which exposes methods for checking/unchecking items programmatically,...

    Windows Phone 7 MVVM #7 - RadGauge

Today’s RadControls for Windows Phone 7 MVVM post is brought to you by the smart tag: Now of course you must be wondering why a smart tag is being highlighted?  Great question!  As part of the Telerik RadControls for Windows Phone 7 suite, RadGauge is an integral data visualization component that can be used to show a variety of different information with either a linear or radial gauge model.  Perhaps the best part about RadGauge is that our development team didn’t just publish a quick component with a few properties, rather this versatile control allows you to have as many or...

RadChart for Windows Phone 7 gets interactivity richness

Q2 2011 is approaching and we are doing our best to deliver an outstanding release with plenty of new features and improvements over the existing controls. We are most excited to announce that the BETA2 Q2 2011 release of our RadControls for Windows Phone 7 tools is publicly available. Knowing how important interactivity is for a mobile component, we put decent effort into adding rich user interaction responsiveness to our charting component. We implemented an extended “Behavior” semantic, which allows an arbitrary number of behaviors to be added to the chart and to provide specific functionality upon user input. Following are the...

Design-Time Gallery for RadChart for WP7

The Q2 2011 Beta 2 release is upon our users and we've got quite a few improvements in the control suite. The highlight of the Q2 release will undoubtedly be the chart control and for Beta 2 we have added more features and polished the existing ones which make the chart look and work better than ever. A major feature, and the focus of this post, is the chart design-time gallery. We extended the concept of the gauge gallery, now it applies to the gauge as well as the chart and who knows, maybe future controls will also benefit from it. The idea of...

Does your Windows Phone 7 Chart Pan & Zoom?

We believe that motion and interactivity are key parts of the whole Windows Phone 7 OS. That is why we put a lot of effort in implementing an intuitive and highly performing zooming and panning behavior for RadChart for WP7. We see many scenarios when a zoom is required – for example you may want to display large amount of data points – let’s say the monthly sales for a period of 10 years. In this case you may try to visualize all the 120 points within the device’s physical dimensions or you may apply a zoom to the chart...
