PLEASE, PLEASE fix the integration betwenn vs and telerik..
For years now, I dread each upgrade as I spend hours to find the "magic" config which will allow telerik and vs to work again..

The integrated upgrade break 100% of the time, only a full msi intall gets any change of working..

Setup:
Vs 2010 with lastest telerik 2010.1.415.40..
And yes, the telerik.UI dll is in the local directory.. and yes the toolkit has been fixed to pij tto the right designer set..

The last change was simply to change from 3.5 to 4.0, and the designer breaks yet again

Same control on various pages gives totally diferent errors but in all cases nothign works!!!

Please please fix this stuff so your controls will work with Vs..

Hi Ray,

I'm sorry for all the frustration you got. Though I'm not sure that suggestion will help right away, can you please, follow the steps below:
  • close all the Visual Studio IDE instances;
  • start a Windows Explorer and navigate to %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files and delete all the child folders and files there
  • Start Visual Studio again

I think that the problem happened because when the Telerik.Web.UI assembly replaced in your project, Visual Studio got two instances of the Telerik.Web.UI assembly with different versions loaded in its AppDomain. Once the IDE restarted the problem should be fixed. The Temporary ASP.NET Files folder cleanup helps ensure Visual Studio won't load the "old" assembly once again.

Let me know if that helps.
Kind regards,

No..

This issue  has a long history, grep these forums, but the problems simply continue to persist...

The thread is about fixing your installer... once and for all..

Hi Ray,

Once again, I'm sorry for all the troubles you've got using the controls. Some stuff are not related to the installer though, but to assembly/reference handling of Visual Studio. For example, the switch from .NET Framework 3.5 to .NET Framework 4.0 cannot be handled by the installer.
While we are doing our best to support .NET Framework 2.0, 3.5 and 4.0 alltogether in order to cover the needs of our customers, sometimes all the operations inside the IDE get complicated and take more time to be discovered, analyzed and decent solutions implemented. That's why we do our best to help you guys immediately through our forums and support system.

Having that said, we still do our best to fix any specific problems reported once we have enough details and are able to reproduce it locally.

I want to thank you all for your support on behalf of Telerik. Just don't hesitate to report us the details of the glitches you find with our controls. We are sure we'll find a solution, or at least a workaround.

Kind regards,
Erjan Gavalji

Please, please fix the installer problems..

This issue has gone on for far to long, please spend some effort to make your istaller work like most others ( who have the all same issues but none of your problems)..

Telerik controls for vsual studio are NOT unique..
It just seems your culure of not fixiong issues is..

PLease, please spend some time and effort and fix the issues so we can simply upgrade, without all the ongoing work arounds each and every upgrade..

The issues are no  your technology, simply the desire to spend the effort on correcting the defects..
