Telerik_UI_for_ASP.NET_AJAX msi questions

I downloaded the latest version of Telerik_UI_for_ASP.NET_AJAX_2015_1_225_Dev.msi and have a few questions to ask:
1. Does the download acutally affect files that are checked into TFS (team server foundation) version control? If so what files are they?
2. If not, does this download just update files on the current workstation that I am using?
3. After I ran the install yesterday  and opened my visual studio 2010 today, got a message that said I needed to download again. Thus why would this happen?
To solve the problem, I did a 'repair' using the installer and shut down and beboot5ed my workstation. Will this solve the problem?

Thank you for contacting us.

The downloaded standalone installer (msi file) of the UI for ASP.NET AJAX could not affect any files on your machine until it is installed. The msi installs the suite on your computer to a folder named Telerik in your Program Files, automatically creating the necessary virtual folders and projects. Additionally, it installs the help file(s) in the VS.NET IDE and in your local copy of MSDN, if you have one installed. It also installs our Visual Studio extensions (with regard of what Visual Studio you have installed on your machine). The Telerik UI for ASP.NET AJAX toolbox items are also automatically added to the Visual Studio Toolbox. More information could be found in the following documentation article.

But please note, that not a single file, described above is deployed in the TFS. The Telerik product should be deployed on every machine in order to have access to the controls. Only the Telerik references added to your project should be deployed in your TFS. You could find some more information about our ASP.NET AJAX Visual Studio extensions here. 

Regarding the message that you are recieving, could you please send to us some screenshots which will help us to further investigate the issue?

The following is in response to your questions. Also, I am wondering if my installation of the latest version of the Telerik tool actually worked correctly.

I basically have 2 versions of the Telerik tool installed on my workstation. I did not get any error messages from the installation but the files in the BIN directory listed in  vs_solutionexplorer.png file did not indicate that there was any changes to them by version called TFS (Team Server foundation).
I ran the installed MSI package from a download file the administrator of my company obtained for me. The administrator called the download file: TelerikTools\RAD CONTROLS FOR ASP.NET AJAX\Version 2015.1.225.1

The files were installed on my workstation are in the file called vs_solutionexplorer.pngThe files called vs_solutionexplorer.png and Telerik_updateMessage.png  show the version of the Telerik tool I am using and a copy of the information download message I am getting.

In the file called controlpanel_teleriksinstalled.png, you can see a copy of my control panel.

Thus can do tell me what I can do so that the most version of the Telerik tool is being used on my workstation?

You also mentioned the references are changed when the new Telerik tool is installed. Would these references be in the BIN directory and marked by version control indicating that a change was made?

Thank you for the provided information.

The message that you are receiving is a notification from our Visual Studio extensions to inform you that a new version (2015.1.401, which is the latest service pack of the product) of Telerik UI for ASP.NET AJAX is available. The pop-up is shown due to the fact that on your machine there are two versions installed but they are not latest. In case, you have license for the newest version, you could install it through the Telerik Control Panel.

Regarding your question about the project's references, please excuse me for not explaining it clearly. After the installation of the msi package is completed, only the distribution is updated if you are installing a service pack (if a new major release is deployed, both distributions are kept as in your case. Please check the following link) but the Telerik assemblies in your project are not updated. This is the main aim of our Upgrade wizard. Please take a look at the following documentation article, which could help you to upgrade your references so as to target the latest version on your machine, due to the fact that I noticed your project's references now target the UI for ASP.NET AJAX distribution with version: 2014.2.724.

Could you please try to update the assemblies in your project and let us know in case any further questions arise?
