Sorting the grid by ipaddress

Is their a way to sort IP addresses properly in the grid ... as one of my columns is a list of ipaddresses but when i sort it comes out as

192.168.1.1
192.168.1.100
192.168.1.101

instead of
192.168.1.1
192.168.1.2
etc...

i think im missing because somehow logically i'd think it wud be possible
