[Solved] Slow installation (Vista)

Hi, is it normal that the installation takes between 10 and 15 minutes?
(And up to 20-25 minutes if including uninstall of previous version.)
I'm using a "new" computer with Vista on it.

Hi Mattias,

Thanks for the question. Yes, it is normal for the installation to take about 15-20 minutes. Let me add some details:

There are two reasons why your installation takes a lot of time. The first reason is that along with the controls you get installed the "Live Demos" that go with the controls. These demos contain a lot of small files which makes them to take a while. If you choose "Custom Installation" you have the option not to install them.

The second reason is that the installation of the Visual Studio extensions requires additional setup for the Visual Studio IDE (the installer calls the command "[VisualStudioInstallDir]\devenv.com /setup"). This setup is likely to take a couple of minutes regardless how fast is the machine. Additionally this setup is performed for each installation of Visual Studio (i.e. VS2005, VS2008 and VS2010). Again if you choose "Custom Installation" you can specify if you want the Visual Studio extensions installed for only one version of the Visual Studio.

During uninstall these operations are performed again in the reverse way.
