Hi,

I am working on upgrading an existing application to the latest and greatest controls.  I noticed that the look of my application is now different from the old version currently in production.  It is as if I've lost the skin I was using.  I am even missing some of the icons ("Refresh", for example) and some of the text started to wrap - it doesn't in the old version.

I've tried to follow this:  http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/aspnet-ajax/general-discussions/all-radcontrols-q3-2008-skins-are-now-compatible-with-the-q1-2009-release.aspx

But I am still relatively new to ASP.NET and I got stuck on Step 3.  Is there more detailed instructions somewhere?

Thanks,
Olga

If you are not sure how to create ASP.NET Theme (depicted in point 3) and apply the described settings, I think that the articles below can be of help:

Hi,

I am sorry.  I am still confused.  This is not a custom skin.  This is an existing skin that was working before the upgrade.  This skin (WebBlue) exists on the controls that are using it - under RadControls (see attached for the screenshot).  But they don't see it.

Thanks,
Olga

So, I followed the directions here http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/aspnet-ajax/general-discussions/all-radcontrols-q3-2008-skins-are-now-compatible-with-the-q1-2009-release.aspx

Now it's even worse.  If before my application appeared to have at least some kind of a skin on it, just not what it used to be before the upgrade, now it first opens with only about 1/5 of the page.  If I click on things to open other screens, I lose the skin entirely.

Please help.

Judging from the names of the skins and the RadControls folder from the screenshot, you are attempting to use the ASP.NET Classic skins of the telerik controls with their ASP.NET AJAX components. The resource you found concerns the pre Q1 2009 skins of the Telerik AJAX controls. You should either stay with the Classic controls and their skins (Q1 2009 was the latest version if I recall well) or abandon them and switch to the ASP.NET AJAX counterparts.

Hi Nikita,

I would love to keep the old skins.  That's what I tried initially.  Except, the look is not quite the same.  Some of the colors are different and things like that.  What's worse, the text that used to not wrap now wraps.  Some of the objects got moved, slightly, but enough to overlap.  And some of the pictures are not showing up.  Could someone please help me either get it right for the old skin, or new ones?

Thanks,
Olga

As I said, if you want to keep the old appearance, either stay with your current version or upgrade to the Q1 2009 version of RadControls for ASP.NET.

If you migrate to RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX (single assembly Telerik.Web.UI instead of separate assemblies for each of the Classic controls), you will not be able to use your old skins. The only option then is to create similar skins with the Telerik Visual Style Builder and apply them as custom skins for the ASP.NET AJAX controls.

That's about all you can do IMO.
