set default value for cell grid

Hi people.i have a radgrid  in employes form.i want  when user click add new record set value  code column with a special string which user see it
please help to me.

You can try the following code snippet in ItemDataBound event to set some default values in TextBoxes when the grid is in insert mode.

ASPX:

<Columns>
   <telerik:GridBoundColumn DataField="EmployeeID" UniqueName="EmployeeID">
   </telerik:GridBoundColumn>
</Columns>

C#:

protected void RadGrid1_ItemDataBound(object sender, GridItemEventArgs e)
   {
      if (e.Item is GridEditFormInsertItem && e.Item.OwnerTableView.IsItemInserted)
       {
           GridEditFormInsertItem insertItem = (GridEditFormInsertItem)e.Item;
           TextBox txt = (TextBox)insertItem["EmployeeID"].Controls[0];
           txt.Text = "default text";// fill TextBox with some default data
       }
   }
