RadMenu & Checkbox Appearance

Hi,
I am dymanically adding menu items at runtime..
myMenu.Items.Add(childMenu)
How do i set the childmenu as checkbox's ??

I understand that i may have to use an ItemTemplate within aspx, but if i do this, how do i edit the menu properties at runtime ?

Any help please?
