RadFileExplorer - Cannot create new directory when using custom FTP solution

I  had the need to connect an instance of my RadFileExplorer to a file source on  an FTP, and I used the sample provided on - http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/aspnet-ajax/file-explorer/how-to-use-the-ftp-connection.aspx

However I'm unable to create or rename a directory because I get the error: 

"The directory /files/test" already exists."

Anyone with the same issue?
