I am using the latest release of RadEditor on a DNN 4.8.0 site. My client is a Mac OSX user (with Firefox). He is having huge problems getting reliable service from the editor. Often the editor opens to a blank screen or it simply hangs or takes 30 seconds to after clicking update.
Is there any reason why this should be so? (We have excellent performance on PC platform). I always expect a few niggles with a Mac but this not this bad. Not just one Mac but a variety of different ones. Often he can only edit the site using the quick editor.
Please can you advise as this is getting a serious customer satisfaction issue.
Thanks
James

Hello James,
In order to speed up the process of helping you we need some additional information.
Could you please check if the problem that you describe is Browser related. Advise the client to check if the issue will occur in Safari browser. In addition please check if there are a lot of plugins installed on the FireFox browser and if disabling some of them will improve the RadEditor's behavior.
Thank you.
Sincerely yours,

Hi Stanimir
Thanks for getting back to me. I have confirmed that there are no-addins installed in Firefox. We have told client not to use Mac Safari because we've had problems with that and the editor in the past (is that correct advice?).
Seems extremely intermittant - had problems on Friday but working fine now.
I've turned off Ajax in the website store to see if that is the problem.
Thanks

Hi James,
The current Safari versions (3.x) have better rich text editing support and should be fully compatible with RadEditor. However, it also should not matter whether you are using Firefox on a PC or on a Mac (the editor has to behave the same). What you were describing seems more like a connection issue - I think this is the reason Stanimir suggested Safari in the first place.
If you have enabled the site log feature for the portal, try checking the logs for any errors from that time.

Here is the site log after editor (on a Mac) has blank screen again - does this indicate a connection issue?

Hello James,
Since the problem happens in different browsers, it is probably connection related. The error you included from the DNN log seems to be coming from a Windows machine using Firefox 3.06 (the UserAgent line).
Check if the Mac users are using firewall/antivirus software - it might be interfering with the browsing experience. If you can reliably reproduce the problem then try using a HTTP debugging tool (e.g. Firebug for Firefox, or Safari's Web Inspector from the develop menu) and check what comes to the browser - the page, scripts, etc. See if any of the requests raise server errors.
Best wishes,
Lini
