Hello,
I have a list with two columns
1) Title [Text]
2) Description [Multi-line text -- Enhanced rich text]

Both the columns are marked as "required". In the new form, when I enter something in the title column, leave description column empty and click OK, I get the following error message as expected below the control.

"You must specify a value for this required field." but the issue is this message displays twice. Please let me know how I can make it display this message only once. Thanks.

Hi Anand,

Could you please test the behavior using the Sharepoint's built in editor? Is the problem still observed? If not, please open a support ticket and send us a sample video that demonstrates the behavior, along with the exact steps to reproduce it locally on our side. We will check it and do our best to provide a solution.

If the problem is still observed, please search the NET for possible solutions.

Sincerely,
George

Hi there,

I am receiving the same problem as Anand with version 5.3.1.0 RadEditorSharePoint when I set the RadEditor field to required.  I have a feeling it has to do with the fact that the RadEditor doesn't support other AJAX Custom Field Types on the same page as what is happening is that as soon as I submit the page (press ok), the radeditor loses the value that was typed in there.

Here is the problem:

1) I have created my own custom AJAX SharePoint field types as described in the article: http://www.codedigest.com/Articles/Sharepoint/98_AJAX_Dependent_Custom_Fields.aspx.

2) Activated the Telerik Rad Editor feature for lists

3) Added a content column (using Multiple lines of text and Enhanced Rich text) to my own custom list along with my own custom column from 1)

4) Through SP Designer, For my custom list, I have created my own custom list form (newformtest.aspx) by following the instructions here: http://kalsing.blogspot.com/2006/11/create-custom-list-form-for-sharepoint.html

5)  Whenever I press ok on the newformtest.aspx, it clears out the value of the radeditor

Please let me know what the problem is.

Thanks,

~ Rez

Hello Rez,

Last week released the new 5.4.0 version of RadEditor for MOSS. I suggest to upgrade to it. In the following help article you can find instructions on upgrading to a newer version of the control http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/upgrade_to_a_newer_version_of_radeditor_for_moss.html.
