Hi,

I have downloaded RadControls "Promethues" today and used automatic installation on my machine. The examples that comes with installation works fine which is in VS 2005. I am using VS 2008. I am already using RadControls for ASP.NET. But When I used RadChart  I was not able to the properties window for the RadChart control after I drag and droped the RadChart control from toolbox. Also I see the below error in the desiner view:

Could not load file or assembly 'Telerik.Web.UI, Version=2007.3.1314.20, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

I searched this forum and ran the below command in VS 2008 command prompt. Then the above issues were gone. But I am not sure what caused the error again. It would be because I tried to refer the example by opening the Telerik sample in VS 2005. Then I am not able to fix this issue. Please help me to fix this.

Hi Sub,

I think that the instructions from the following KB article on our site will help you address the design-time issue you are currently having under VS 2008:

Thanks for your reply. I already looked at your knowledgebase article. As I mentioned it in first post it worked for the first time and when I opened the Telerik samples as part of the installation in VS 2005 my VS 2008 environment is broken. Now even if I do the same steps again I could not recover it again in VS 2008. That is my original question. But not sure what is different in the solution you provided from what I tried and reported to you.

Hello Sub,

I am sorry to hear that our reply here was not helpful. Unfortunately we have to admit that there are some design-time issues/glitches with RadControls Prometheus under VS2008 and we have been working on improving the install experience under Vista as well as the design-time in Visual Studio 2008.

I am happy to let you know that we have addressed all reported issues and things are much better now. We are currently running thorough QA on the internal build and it will be available for download with the scheduled SP2
in the last week of February. In order to facilitate your development process, I am sending a direct link to our latest internal build which should eliminate the reported issues so far:

http://www.telerik.com/t3mp0m@t/2expire/Betas/trial/Telerik.Web.UI_2007_3_1328_trial.exe

Please try it out and let me know how it goes. I will really appreciate your feedback on this subject and will gladly cooperate with you in finding solution for all design-time flaws you experience with RadControls Prometheus. Keep in mind that the custom build should be stable, however it still passes some internal tests before it is released officially as part of Q3 2007 SP2, scheduled at the end of February.

Kind regards,
Stephen,
the Telerik team

Hi Stephen,

could you please provide a beta version without the trial remarks? Developing with those remarks is really annoying.

Regards,
Ingo
