It is our pleasure to announce the Q1 2009 BETA release!
The key highlights for the Beta Release are:
  • New RadFileExplorer control - Ready-to-use file explorer control with high performance and rich customization options. Consists of TreeView, Grid, ToolBar, Upload, Address Bar. Multiple selection and drag and drop out of the box. See Demos
  • RadCompression - a new HttpModule that ships with the RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX designed to automatically compress your AJAX and Web Service responses
  • Facelift for Default and Vista skins which result in breaking changes for certain scenarios. Please, test before upgrading to the new version.
  • New .NET 3.5 demos
  • New WebMail Sample Application with included source code
  • RadScheduler: New client-side APIs and databinding to Webservices. See Demo
  • RadGrid: New pager styles and and filter templates

Please note that Default2006 and Gray skins are discontinued -- we are recommending the new Default skin for anyone that might have used the obsolete skins.

Is the Q1 2009 Beta only available as an MSI, or is there also a ZIP (that I did not find)?

Thanks

Hi Martin,

There is just an installation package available for download. We can send you a DLL if you need that -- just open a support ticket.

We will have a full set of distributions with the official release within a few days.

Hello Bermo,

The Q1 2009 Beta version of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX can be installed as any other version of the suite. You can refer to the 'Installation and Deployment' section of the online documentation:

http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/introduction.html

and this KB article with upgrade instructions

http://www.telerik.com/support/kb/aspnet-ajax/general/updating-radcontrols-for-asp-net-to-another-version-or-license.aspx

for more details.

Best regards,
Sebastian

Hi,

I didn't want to create a new thread so I'm writing it here instead. According to this article http://www.telerik.com/products/aspnet-ajax/whats-new/release-history/q1-2009-version-number-2009-1-311.aspx Q1 2009 should be released now (not the beta, but the full version), or am I missing something? I can't find it in my download page.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem: the demos are Q1, the trial is Q1 and my reported bugs are solved because of the release of Q1 yesterday. But when I go to my downloads, it still says Q3 2008.

I assume it's just a matter of hours though, but I think I'm not alone in waiting on this :-)

Hi Bermo,

One or more of the following suggestions should help you with this issue:
  • Close Visual Studio and try again.
  • Check that the file you have downloaded matches the size noted on the Telerik site. If the size differs, download the package again, as it may be corrupt. It will be best if you use a download manager to make sure that the download is complete, and then verify that its md5sum is the correct one. You can get a simple md5sum calculator here - http://etree.org/md5com.html. Please note that you have to be logged in your Telerik account for the download to start.
  • Reboot the machine and try the installation again.
  • Run the install locally by copying the installation files to your local hard drive:
    1. Using Windows Explorer browse to the location of the installation files.
    2. Copy all the contents of the installation location.
    3. Temporarily paste them to a location on your local hard drive. For example, on the Desktop.
    4. Run the install file.
    5. If you still get the same error, re-download the package, as described in #1 above.

  • Install the Windows Installer Engine
  • Another thing you might check is to see if the file has been blocked by windows. Right-click the installation .exe and choose properties. See if there is a button that says "unblock" and click on it, it is enabled.
  • This error is sometimes caused by Anti-Virus software (e.g. Panda AntiVirus). Disable the virus protection software before you proceed with the installation.

I hope these will help you to resolve the issue.

Sincerely yours,
Plamen
