I set max uploads to 200mb in the web.config. Progress bar works on anything under 10mb only and just hangs for files over 200mb.
Also, my page in question has an iframe on it that runs an external ajax menu (although this module doesn't run in an iframe) and adding files often results in being bumped from the page.

Have you checked this help article? It shows all required steps to enable uploads of large files.
Is there any life url where we can see the problem? Alternatively you can open a support ticket and send us your module and web.config.
