I've found what appears to be a bug with the bullets and number options in the Editor control.

When in the editor enter some text and click the Numbering button to give you something like this:

  1. text

Press ENTER twice to get back to a normal paragraph and then enter another line of text with a bullet.  This will either work (randomly) or will indent the text directly below the numbered list above as a bullet giving a <UL> inside of the <OL> tag above it.  If you then click the bullet button to remove the bullet it will be removed but then cannot be put back again using the button.  Once you're in this position it seems impossible to reformat everything again and the entire section must be removed including the <OL> above or you never get the items where intended.

Ironically whilst trying to give examples in this post I have come across the same problem!  I don't know if this page is using the same control or not but it's most frustrating.

Is this something you've come across?

Thanks

Dave

You right. I tried doing what you said in the forum editor and it somehow added the bullet list to the numbered list.

Very strange.

Hi,

We are aware of this issue and working on fixing it. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide a firm estimate on when the fix will be available.

To avoid this behavior you can set RadEditor's NewLineBr property to false. Please note that when NewLineBr is set to false entering line breaks will be handled by the browser's default RichTextEdititng engine.

Hi Krishna,

You can see how the latest version of the Insert Ordered Lists functionality of RadEditor works in the following video: http://screencast.com/t/jQpge0mlr9WW. Let me know if you have any suggestions on improving it.

Best wishes,

Isn't that exactly the behaviour I posted about originally being wrong?

Can you do an <OL>, press ENTER twice and then do a <UL> or does it still jump back up to be a second level of <OL>?

Hi Cori,

Yes, the problem is the same as the reported one and it is still not fixed and we will not enough time to fix it for the upcoming beta. This functionality should behave as in MS Word http://screencast.com/t/in0f8vnSzDC.

Hi,

If the fix won't make the next release, can you provide a work around in the meantime ?

Hi Krishna,

We will be able to research the problem and do our best to fix it or at least provide a workaround after the release of the upcoming Q1 2011 beta. It is scheduled for the end of this week.
