I would suggest that you please add a new property to the PopUpSettings of the RadGrid called Modal that would allow you to control the popup window used for editing to be modal. That would be a great option.

Thank you for your suggestion - I have added 1000 Telerik points to your account.
Unfortunately we will not be able to include this in the service pack however the functionality most probably will be available next week and you can request latest Telerik.Web.UI.
