I know there are about a million of articles on the JS 'Sys' is Unidentified problem, but they all seem to require manually fixing the web.config file. Is there a better way to fix this (i.e. configurations, properties, etc.)?

I'm running IIS 6, Visual Studio 2005 (VS 2008 if needed), IE7, and .NET 3.5 SP1. I've installed the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions.

I'm sure there is a way out there, but does anybody know it?

Hi Adam,

Having installed all the necessary software, I believe that if you create a New Ajax-Enabled Web Site in VS 2005 you will not receive that error.

Kind regards,

That works! But is there a way to create web applications this way?

Thanks,
Adam

... or are these controls specifically designed to be websites only?

Hello Adam,

You can create either WebApplication or WebSite - you should have templates for both cases. Additionally it is possible to make your WebApplication /WebSite to be AJAX compatible manually. More information on this subject can be found on ASP.NET website under the AJAX section.
