In http://www.obout.com/editor_new/xhtmlcompare.aspx, obout claims:

obout Editor generates identical XHTML compliant output in all browsers.

Telerik is shown providing different output for different browsers.

Does this matter, and if so, should I be using obout's editor rather than teleriks?

Thank you,
Brother Bill

Hi  Brother Bill,

RadEditor provides a number of tools for enforcing XHTML compliant content and it outputs out-of-the box XHTML compliant content (the content being edited) across all major browsers.

The information provided on obout.com is not true and you can verify this yourself by testing the Default Example of RadEditor.

Kind regards,
Rumen

Another thing you have to take into account is the stability of the product itself and customer support. Telerik's products are some of the most stable in the buisness and their customer support is amazing.

That said, anyone you ask here is going to give you a biased answer. Telerik and their products been nothing but good to me and anyone else I know who uses them.

I second Jeffrey. Maturity and customer support is a major issue to consider. We are currenlty moving away from Obout and to Telerik after our project almost got cancelled due to 3-month delay caused by bugs in Obout suite without a prompt enough response by Obout support.

I am using obout controls since 2007 and I am happy with their support and updates. They are much much less expensive than telerik and they do provide quality products. Obout controls help me save a huge amount of time in developing my projects. Those who blame them, I would suggest try them first.

Well obout seems to be dead now in 2014. They had forums which are now gone having been overridden by spam with no one looking after them. obout support in the forums stopped abruptly on day in 2009.  They were still useful until the spam arrived.

Now obout controls function in Visual Studio 2013 but the examples do not and you cannot add obout items to the Visual Studio Toolbox.  They have an very occasional updates but will never answer an email.

All of this has caused me to try to switch to Telerik which is not going so good yet, hopefully it will improve.
