ok i am trying to get RadMenu to work like Telerik has the menu in the left panel on the Demos page. Where menu subitems just don't show up and then get visible. I want the menu items to stay on permanently on the page and also and if I want to collapse it to do that.

The menu on the left on the Demos page is our custom control, designed for this page specifically.
Fortunately, you could achieve almost the same functionality with our RadPanelBar.
