Sometimes in the documentation I see VS 2008 and VWD used together - and supported equally. However, I attempted to install the VS Extenstions, and while the installer (.msi) ran and didn't report any errors, there aren't any Telerik specific menu items, context menus etc (as seen in the VS Extensions Video). Is this a limitation of VWD?

Edit: I guess I should add I'm using VWD 2008 (Express Edition) SP1
(Version 9.0.30729.1 SP)

Hi WinterKill,

RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX VSExtensions currently do not support Visual Web Developer. While it is in our TODO list, I cannot give an estimate on when we will have it implemented.

Thank you for the good question though. It's interesting actually how many of you guys would like Visual Web Developer support for the VSExtensions?

Looking forward to hearing your opinion,

Thank you for the quick response.

I know I would like to see VWD supported. My project(s) don't yet justify the entire VS 2008 installation - but I would find it very useful to be able to use tools like the VS Extensions etc to simplify and speed up that portion of the development process.

Hi WinterKill,

After some research we found that although extending possible, Visual Studio Express EULA does not allow that. Please, refer to the following blog posts:
Dan Fernandez's Blog: Visual Studio Express and TestDriven.NET
Dan Fernandez's Blog: TestDriven.NET and Express - Technical Information

Having that said, I'm sorry we cannot provide extensions for Visual Web Developer Express. We will keep monitoring the Visual Web Developer Express edition progress and we will do our best to provide an extension for it once possible.

Kind regards,

Hope this will coming soon because buying a licence of VS only for this really great functionality is to much.

Shouldn't it be possible to have an online code generator allowing to copy the basis of a personalized control ?

In fact, the problem with the online examples is that they include the other parts of the pages and isn't updated when changing the options.

Thanks,

Hervé

Hervé,
Not sure, but I think the VWD express supports the design time... Why don't you configure them via the designers?

Cheers,

Hi Blaise,

I was talking about "template" that génerate code for the most common scenarios.

Hi guys,

Hervé, the online template generation is not a bad idea at all, thanks for sharing it with us. We will definitely discuss it!

I am in the same boat as other developers. I know this thread seems to be old. Is there any update on the support of VWD 2010 support?

Hello,

Telerik VS Extensions currently don't support Visual Web Developer and we don't have any plans to provide such support.
